1. i've got to get the forum working on the TARI website so that we can have different threads/discussions for all these topics. i'll try get done asap.

lots of questions to answer...

Quote:
regarding the photo of the ecu to email, what exactly are you looking for?
this helps me link up the raw hex id of the ecu to a meaningful text string like deltadash displays. the ecu cover has the true id on it in plain text. there are alot of you out there with one type of ecu but a different type of base rom and in this case the info i would put into the code would be incorrect. just keep sending them and i'll do the homework...

I have found a way to 'correctly' start stripping up the hex id so i'll keep you updated on that...this means possibly no need for the ecuassist.txt and it'll recognize all current ecu's 1st time.

Quote:
I'm running AP stage 2 v1.05 on a 2004 STI, my numbers don't make sense either. I did get an error that it didn't recognize the ECU, so, I'm pretty sure that has alot to do with it.
Quote:
i am running the stage 2 on an 04. here is what i noticed. the numbers all look fine except for one thing. if you log engine speed all the information from that grid on need to be moved to the right as the RPMs do not show up anywhere.
did you guys extract the pci.dll (pci.exe) into the correct directory? did you get the message box to overwrite? do a search and check what version of pci.dll you have - it should be 1.0.0.29. what may have happened is that you were using dl1 before you tried the extract. this means windows would have loaded it into memory and the overwrite could have failed. if you have the old version then...reboot...dont start dl1...run pci.exe...extract and overwrite...check version. the v1.0.0.29 has extra code for parameters like engine speed (they are not the same as all the other analogue parameters and have to be dealt with differently)

Quote:
calvin,
thank you so much this program rocks. just had a guestion is the (iam) selection going to be on the next upgrade? i didn't seee it on this one. but it was on the first release.
ok...does deltadash pick up the IAM on the USDM cars? if so then we can make it work. if not then we have to look for alternatives. what subaru have done is move around some of the parameter addresses, so what is in 1 location on 1 model/market/etc is not the same on another. the initial IAM and Engine Load were from my ecu type (aj870-8840 : MY05 AUS/SA STI). i only found out about the address changes after the first release, so we need to do some research and find them on your USDM vehicles. if you have deltadash email me and i'll tell you what to do.

Quote:
Only thing I noticed so far after playing with it the first time, when the logging is enabled and i shut down my car, the program goes into an infinite loop with an error of not being able to connect to ECU or something like that..
when you turn off the car the ecu power is cut off so dl1 cant communicate anymore. i'll investigate the loop though.

Quote:
Still wondering..
How about a 2002 RS?
or a 1998 Volvo
or a 1999 Subaru Legacy sedan?
2002 RS? subaru? 2.5lt? should work.
1998 Volvo - no chance, this is subaru proprietary protocol not generic OBD2.
1999 subaru legacy sedan - should definately work

Quote:
Guess I won't be needing DeltaDash now...
deltadash is still a good product and has its merits. got nice features like road dyno/graphing/trouble codes. i intend to add all those eventually, it'll just take some time. problem with deltadash is its price! if the ecutek owners had any sense of loyalty to the enthusiast community (people that actually make them their money) they would give away deltadash for free and charge for the flashing software to the public and not just tuners. their time is coming to an end though. soon diagnostics and flashing will be available for free and then their software only becomes viable for the uninformed.

I appreciate all the offers of money, but i cant accept it. just keep on using it and building a support base, thats enough payment.

willguidry - does that answer your questions of the speculation on my intent???

-----------------------------------------------------------------

i've done some more testing/analysis on the freezing issue and it seems that i only get the freezing when the connection is made using a hardware USB <-> serial converter. i received my openecu wrx cables this weekend and so far no freezing at all, whereas on the older hardware converter i could get it to happen all the time. those of you with the freezing problems - what hardware are you using? based on this i would really recommend getting the wrx connector from tactrix. plus you will be able to flash with it.

regards,
calvin.

I also have the cobb AP and I am getting very odd readings when the info is logged. It worked fine when I was using the "live" function.

I switched computers and am now getting an error on this machine. I downloaded the app install with the two updates. I then installed the program and open the two aps and hit "yes", to replace the files, only to get this error: Component "MSCOMCTL.OCX" or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid

Any ideas? This was working fine on my other machine.

this is the problem of using a GUI development language - all these pesky dll dependencies.

cboldman - you have mail.

the guys wth cobb ap. please take some screen shots of the app working in the 'live' tab and mail them to me. i've got a log from somebody already.

Thumbs up

I just had an idea. Could there be a way to figure out your 1/4 mile time?

Could you set up one of the values to be a resetable timer that starts when the vehicle begins to roll and a 'distance travled' field?

Would this be possible?

Thank you

vehicle speed was removed because the values weren't matching the speedometer. little more analysis needed on that value. when its back then yes i'm sure the 1/4 mile time analyzer can easily be added. just some tricky calculations based on wheel size, etc.

If you have time, and vehicle speed do you need to factor in wheel size?

I guess that's the difference in 1/4 mile time and trap speed...

How does a GTECH meter work?

Sorry if I'm getting sidetracked.

Gtechs work off of a totally different princinple.. they are accelerometer based that detects accel and decl and correlate them to time to give you your distance.. Remember physics class V=d/t?

I couldn't find any hardware requirements..

I have a coworker who will give me a 486 laptop running windows 98.

Anyone know if this would work with the software?

Someone else is running it under Win98 in a Virtual PC. It should work, if you have enough memory. Back in the day 16 meg was the norm...

Search for that filename on google and download it from somewhere. I did that, and it fixed the problem.

Ok, I DL the driver and got the app working. Everything seems to work great except vehicle speed, rpm, and Im not sure if its my old crappy laptop running XP, but I scroll bars are not displayed horizontally so I can't get the full picture. I can only run 800*600, so maybe that is the problem.

Stupid noobie question here....I'm running a 2003 WRX with Cobb Stage 1. Only power mod on the car. It doesn't appear that the EGT temp changes at all, and the manifold air pressure should = turbo boost right? It doesn't seem to. Any help?

BTW kickass program!

Yup, a constant 365. So it'd due to the Cobb programming eh?

Darn, I was hoping to check out my EGT numbers with the stock probe. Unless there's a way to get the original signal (which I would guess not) looks like I'm drilling the manifold. No biggie but I'm just in a lazy mood.

I run Cobb Stg 2 and I thought the same thing. Turns out after an extended run last night, I did get readings. I guess the sensor must not pick up below 365. Drive around some, maybe do a WOT or two and you may get something.

I'll try that out. I was only logging stuff in my driveway. Too bad I'm away on business for a week but I'll let ya know what I find out.

Wouldn't that explain it?

Also, since I found out mine was working last night (or so it seems), I began to think that maybe it's more complex than the ecu simply reporting a value told to it by a sensor. The ecu may constantly report 365 as a baseline, compare it to the sensor value and then do math as needed to report the actual value. For example:

If sensor value is > 365, then report the sensor value.
If sensor value is < 365, then report stored ecu value.

Just a thought.

CEL Codes Defeated [WHEN USING AS BASE MAP]
P0545 - Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Circuit Low
P0546 - Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Circuit High
P1301 - Misfire Detected (High Temperature Exhaust Gas)
P1312 - Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Malfunction
P1544 - Exhaust Gas Temperature Too High

the way i see it, 365 is hard coded, because everyone else is seeing the same value.

I am using Cobb Stage 1, revision 1.16, as my base map and the live EGTs off this program are comparable to my Defi gauge.
