Default Im thinking of buying and swaping a 1995 subaru Legacy Wagon.

Its a 5 speed Subaru Legacy wagon AWD 5-speed with immaculate interior and exterior. Only 67,000 miles on it and if I trade in my 97 Buick Regal (which has 150,000 miles on it) I can have it for $1500 more, cash. Everything impressed me about this car except for one thing, the power. The 2.2 in it would have to go so my question is this:

What fesabile swaps are there? I personaly was thinking ej257 with STi heads and then usng the STi turbo ehaust system bolted to the stock tranmission and mergering tmostly the stock STi wiring harness and itnerfacing it with the wagons. Is this possible? Im mainly conserned about three things:
1. Engine mounts.
2. Will it bolt up to the tranny and what clutch/flywheel to use?
3. Wiring ODB1 -> ODB2.

300 HP at the crank be very exceptable. I do not think I would need very much more than that. The block should be able to take it i would guess, but what about the tranny? I keep hearing that Subaru's tranns are weak. Im also going to assume the rear-end in the above BKC chasis is a non-LSD and is weaker, can I swap it out for a stronger one? So many questions, and yes, Im reading all the FAQ's and searching!

Anything else I could do to get power out of this sucker? Im pretty much getthing this car for less than $4,000 and it blue books at over $7,000. Its a damn good deal. What do you guys think?

yesh.
ok start by reading the stickies at the top of the forum they are very informative

2 a 95 legacy is obd-2
3 the physcal part of the swap is cake not a proublem at all
4 ej257+sti heads is closer to 350 (or more w/ a tune)
5 a stock transmission will bolt up but you are way over the "happy" power levels of the 5 speed
6 rear diffs aren't a proublem till way over 300whp
7 swappping in a sti motor will probblay run you about 6-7k
8 the wireing is not a trivial matter
