Default 97 JDM sti swap in 97 impreza CEL flashes, won't hit full boost HELP

I did a 97 JDM sti swap into a 97 impreza. The check engine light is flashing and the car will not hit full boost. It runs fine, like there is nothing wrong, but it will only boost 10psi. I need help if anyone has ANY ideas. Thanks.

What "code" is it flashing ? Count the short blinks/long blinks.

It is not flashing a particular code. It just keeps flashing. It would be one short blink over and over. I tried to have it read on a diagnostic computer and it says there is nothing wrong. I tried resetting the ecu several times, no luck. I am stumped...

No, it runs fine, gets normal gas milage. Just won't hit full boost and cel flashing. I tried a manual boost controller but the ecu wasn't compensating properly so it was detonating. Please help. Thanks.

Sorry man, I could help you if it was USDM, if you could get a code read.. but dont think so on JDM.

Yep, I tried to get it read on a diagnostic machine and had no luck.

You need to read the code as it is OBD1 by combining the two connectors under the dash.
Flashing does not necessarily mean bad but maybe urgent - anything from 02 sensors to AFR to high.

Thanks. When I had it read we tried to read it OBD2 and it didn't read anything was wrong. I'll give it a try.

although i'm not sure about the jdm stuff.. the US stuff, the CEL will flash when there is a misfire above 50% for a certain period of time.. But since its running ok, i'm not sure what else would cause that.. unless something went whack in the wiring.

Should be a three wire one, get a universal one - it will work.

Not sure how did your wiring. Did you have the complete jdm one? or did you splice the wiring harness in at the ecu??

OBD1 is really good in comparison to the newer OBD2 b/c of many early warning signs built in.

Check out this site:
http://bbs.legacycentral.org/index.php

They all deal with EJ20G engines as well and you find info on replacement parts & how do check CELs

Are the green plugs under the dash connected together? This will activate a diagnostic mode where the CEL flashes constantly among other things. Look under the driver side dash, if you see two green plugs connected unplug them.

If the CEL is flashing all the time, that means you grounded the read memory wire and the car is in "test mode". That probably explains why you can't get full boost
