Default Anyone put a rotary in their subaru?

I've been thinking about this lately, just curious about it, not real serious. It looks like the rx7 turbo engine would fit, maybe make an adapter plate for the bell housing and use a custom clutch? Any thoughts on this. Again it's just an idea, I'd like to know if it's ever been done.

There you go. I know nothing about it, other then it was just put to gether in Japan.

I whould never do it because AWD needs torque to be fun.

We saw that car when we were at the Tokyo Auto Salon. Very cool to see. The engine sits quite a ways back in the engine bay and the transmission is connected via an adapter plate.

Very nice set-up in the car I have several articles on it to include the build up over the few months. Not a bad machine at all!

Just out of curiosity, why would anyone want to take away a potential power making engine to put a time bomb in there car. Just my 2 cents

ITs the oil cooler. The radiator is in the stock location. If you look closely there is a blue samco looking hose from the thermostat housing on the Rotary.

if you don't know much about rotaries... they don't last. N/A rotaries will get you upwards of 200,000 miles but turbo ones, especially MODDED turbo ones, won't get you anywhere close to 100,000 miles.

oh, and they don't make torque. i'd also rather have a boxer growl than a bi-plane whine out of my suby.

a couple of rx-7 folks have been swapping out their rotaries for corvette LS1 (or was it LS2?) engines and guess what... the corvette engines are only 15-20 lbs heavier when weighed. it's a myth to say that rotaries are significantly lighter.

a rotary should last a LONG time. 3 moving parts in them as opposed to ~ 45 in a regular engine. and they spin at about half the speed of a regular engine too.
