Default She's up for sale...

The wife fell in love with the Tangerine Orange on the Crosstrek, and a happy wife = happy life, so the '05 Baja Turbo 5-speed is going up for sale.

I'm REALLY going to miss the effortless passing power on the highway, the new 'trek is a SLUG! Oh well.

Seriously considering doing the same thing with my 03, even though it only has 80k miles......just need something more practical for dog hauling, etc.

I will probably wait a model year, just to let them work out any first year run kinks, but would be really interested to hear from former Baja'ers who have switched to the Crosstrek, re impressions, issues, etc..

my biggest loss has been the "dirty area" of the baja. I have found that a cargo liner makes up a bit of the difference. Also there is a trailer in my future for the bigger items.

so far so good and I have more "secure" cargo area.

That's funny - we're the opposite - we thought we'd get a ton of use out of the bed, but ended up rarely using it, mostly because I have a full-size truck.

I'm not really at a loss too much on the bed I guess. My dad lives close and he has a Colorado so I have that if needed.

Yeah, I wound up getting an ARE cap as the bed proved less than ideal, especially in winter, even with a hard bed cover......I have a small utility trailer for hauling 4wheeler etc.....wonder how the CT would handle towing it??

I would think the crosstrek could handle an atv on a small open trailer, maybe what.. 1200lbs total? That's not terrible.

P.S. Added some photos to the FS thread...

Well, that didn't take long.. a guy from the forum PM'd me late night on the 21st, I got back to him mid-day on the 22nd, and on the evening of the 22nd, thanks to a LOT of hunting for a title shop that stays open till 8:00, she went home with him that night! (I had figured it was going to take a few weeks to sell, a good thing since the XV wasn't coming till April, so there was no rushing the sale on my end ) Fortunately, after some frantic calling Friday to every dealer in PA after he said he wanted to come up that day, I found a XV spec'd out with the right options and more importantly, IN STOCK. I bribed a friend to drive me the 2 hours to the dealer to pick up the Crosstrek on Saturday if everything worked out with the sale, and it did.

After signing for the XV on Saturday, I thoroughly enjoyed the drive home, and the wife is REALLY in love (AND surprised.. I told her it would be a week until we got one, hehehe). And, subeman90 is right, it's not a slug at all. Lacks the "70mph and roll into it" passing power the turbo had, but at all speeds up to that, it scoots along quite well! Handles nicely too. Solid-feeling.

Faulkner in Bethlehem had it.. dealer transfer from MD.

P.S. Roland Zuk at Faulkner is a SCCA guy, and currently autocrosses a BRZ, having just retired a Merkur(!). Made me feel good to buy from a 'car guy'!
