Default Lighting Schematics - Aux Fog Light Help

I need to pass my PA state inspection on Saturday... and the inspections say you need to have all fog light turn off when the highbeams come on.

I installed some hella driving lights that currently are manually switched with a toggle switch with all 3 wires going to the battery (positive/ground and negative).

I pulled out my drivers side headlamp on my 2004 WRX and was surprised by the number of leads going to the headlamp assembly... It looks like there are 4 wires going to the lowbeam light.

Does anyone have a schematic showing what each wire does what on 2004 WRX headlight assemblies? I thought theres a way to wire up the grounding wire to something on the low beam (as per the hella instructions.

I've also seen some posts about disabling the foglight off when highbeams on option by cliping a wire on the back of the fusebox?

Any help would be appreciated.... My last resort is pulling the extra fogs for the inspection.

You need to clarify what you are using first. Are they fog lights or driving lights? You call them both.

Fog lights are typically only supposed to be on when your low beams are on.

Driving lights are typically only supposed to be on when your high beams are on.

They are Hella Driving lights. I currently have them set up so they are independant of which lights are currently on (yes I have them directly switched from the battery).

My dealership (where I take my car for inspections) tells me all fogs/driving lights etc have to be off when the high-beams are on.

Auxiliary driving lamps shall not be substituted for headlamps. Auxiliary driving lamps may only be used with high headlamp beams.

Driving lights supplaiment your headlights, and let you see farther when there isn't anyone else on the road. Characterized by a narrower, further reaching pattern.

Fog lights light up the few feet in front of the car to let you know you're still on the road when you cant see more than a few feet in front of you due to fog, snow, etc. Characterized by a wide, "shallow" pattern directly in front of the car.

Now, you say driving lights, so you need to wire them up to be on with the high beams, and off with the low beams.

This in no way helps you figure out which wire is which, but it at least tells you what your trying to do.

(option B would be to disconnect the lights and tell the inspectors their just for show).

I did the disconnect for inspection method - but I'd really like to get these wired up correctly so I don't have to do this next year
