Default About to purchse Philips 6000k bulbs

This is for my 04STi, I just want to get a higher colour somewhat like the S2000 headlights. Should I be allset with just purchasing the bulbs only and keeping my existing electrical wires?

The s2000 uses bulbs similar in temperature (if not the same) to the ones in your sti headlights already. That color your see is caused from the projectors themselves. And in terms of 'usuable' light output: 4100k > 6000k.

But to answer your question. Your stock wiring should work fine if you're just swapping out HID bulbs.

damn....i just love those S2K headlights...i guess I forgot they used projectors. too bad we don't have any good options to make our headlights look like those of BMWs/AUDIs

btw, thanks for saving me some $$$$

^^ agreed, my biggest gripe about the STi's headlight system is the reflector design. Projectors > reflectors in output and bling factor

They say S2k have the most beautiful color/output. I agree. They use 4300K bulbs, but because of the projector design, the color comes out the way it does.

The Philips 6000k "Ultinons" are real nice though. I'm getting a pair too.

the s2k lights are so nice and bright, when compared to the STi, it makes our car look like they have hallogens.

It's because on start up the lumens are low; the intensity of the light needs some time to "warm-up." And as HIDS function, the more blue/color there is, the less lumens/intensity.

When STi HID bulbs (4300K) are completely on, they shine at 3200 lumens, the brightest output available. And with that, the light projected is white.

The way your projector is designed is the most important factor when it comes to projection and color output. Honda S2000's projectors are just too badass -- they have 4300k bulbs with 3200 lumens yet have all kinds of colors from different angles. BMW, Benz, Acura color flicker are real pretty too.

Since our projectors aren't designed as well for color flickering, a simple upgrade of kelvin at the expense of less lumens will work for color. Get OEM parts (ie Philips 6000k Ultinons).

i just checked out Xenonfactory.com and I was wondering, when ordering the bulbs, does 1 qty = 2 bulbs for $135? or is it $135 each?

You sure wrote a lot without answering the question... which to remind you was:

It's because all the salts in the capsule have not vaporized yet. As the capsule warms up, those salts vaporize and begin contributing to the spectral output.

Adding this pic as a reference for whomever finds this thread in the future using "Search."

Philips Ultinon bulb (6000K) on the left and Philips 4300K bulb on the right:

You get the blue color with the Ultinon, but the light output will really suffer compared to the 4300K bulb (especially during inclement weather).

awesome pic! it will definitely serve as a good reference point! I love that blueish color. i could care less about the loss of visibility since my car isn't my daily driver and hardly sees snow or rain anyway
