Question Best penetrating oil? WD40, Liquid Wrench, PB Blaster...

Is there much difference between any of them?

PB Blaster has alsoways worked well for me, and better than WD40. Never used liquid wrench.

I second Davenow's statement. WD-40 is no good.

PB Blaster ownz all. There are a few other "good" penetrants around, but PB Blaster is probably the most well known. WD-40 is awesome stuff for some things, but as a penetrating oil, it sucks butt.

I couldn't find pblaster when I was doing my up-pipe and used the liquid wrench penetrant.

Worked great.

FWIW, I tried wd40 first and it was worse than useless as it didn't loosen the bolts up but did put a nice slick surface everywhere else...so ya got that goin' for ya.

Alright, now dont laugh. but go to walmart, ( i dont even know if this stuff is still around, but thats the last place i found it) and look for somthing called amazing mystery oil, or somthing to that effect. i dont remember the exact name cuz i threw it in a spray bottle when i got home and threw the original bottle away. now that i think about it, im pretty sure its called marvel mystery oil or somthing like that. sounds kinda hokey, but this stuff works WONDERS. i havent come across a bolt yet this stuff couldnt loosen. when i did my exhaust we tried loosening the bolts on the downpipe and they wouldnt budge. sprayed a little of that on there, let it soak in for a few minutes, and they popped off like they were hand tightened on there. one time on my old car i was replacing the cat, and it was an IL car so all the bolts under there were RUSTED to all hell. sprayed a ton of that crap on em, put a wrench on em and after one swift kick the bolt was loose. i thought for sure i'd break the bolt, but nope.

anyways, cliffnotes: Marvel Mystery Oil (i think), probably found at walmart, dont know where else. WORKS.

I've used PB Blaster and Liquid Wrench. I think PB Blaster worked better but this was on a different month/car/etc, and the "Arm Dyno" may be lying...

Kroil is awesome stuff - use it in power plants all the time (my real job lets me work on coal pulverizers ). Like armand1 said, it is tough to get, so I use PB Blaster at home.

+2 for PB Blaster. +1 for Liquid Wrench.

I bought a gallon of Kroil 8 years ago for $22. Still have about .9 of it left. Just checked their site, and the price went up $1.90:

Kano Labs

It stinks up the garage when you use it, but it works better than anything I've tried.

Zep has worked best for me. It also contains teflon. Smells like bannanas too.

you know getting cake is the ONLY thing missing from using a penetrating oil.
