Question "sleeper" RS

I was wondering about modding an older RS. Is it possible to make it into a 12s or less beast in the 1/4? I was assuming you can drop a big a** turbo and supporting mods to make it quick. What year and model should I look into? I was looking for something all said and done for under or at most 12-15k

Get an older Brighton model, or a non-RS GC. Buy the RS front fenders/hood/bumper. Get a WRX swap with some bolt ons, or any number of other things and you are there.
The RS motors are not a fan of boost being they are pretty high compression from Subaru.
And search here and over at RS25.com.

Or RS swap w/ VF series turbo and supporting mods. Figure with a 300 lbs savings, you will be about .3-.5 quicker then a WRX with the same mods.

You don't need new fenders. If you buy an older Impreza, that's not a 2.5RS, you can update the looks with the bumper, hood and headlights if it's a 1996 or earlier(which also requires a different hood). Although, if you wanted a sleeper, I'd keep the stock setup on one of the older ones and then just get a front-mount. They can be hidden if you do it right. Also, a white car would provide less contrast against an FMIC, making it harder to see.

An OBD1 car can be easier if you plan on doing a custom build. I think that would be a 95 and earlier? I'm pretty sure '96 is when they started OBD2...but I'm not sure, it may be '95. Tons of info in the conversion forum as well as aftermarket forced induction if you decide to do a custom build.

Add fuzzy dice, and chrome wheels from "Zoomiegofaster inc." will take it into the 11.5 range.

save yourself the trouble of a swap, buy a wrx and mod it or buy an STi, live with the monthly payment.

I have a MY93 EJ22T. Will be putting Crawford forged pistons and billit rods in w/ new cryoed rod and crank bearings, and total seal piston rings. I'll be getting the engine balanced via Machine shop in town. I'll be using MY98 DOHC heads with JUN 264 cams and valvetrain kit. Will be strapping on a Section 8 STi turbokit, contains GT30R turbo. I have to find myself a FMIC, probably APS's version for the GC8. Will run Hydra stand alone ECU w/ MY99 intake manifold. Fuel with Crawford 80lb stg 2 fuel kit, walbro fuel pump. This is what I have planned. we'll see what happens this summer. Hopefully I'll have the engine done by then with the heads.

I'm sure this'll hit the 12's. But I can go faster too.

stock RS motors love boost! but despise poor tuning. be careful who you give it to.. make sure they have RSt experience or at least respect for it.
