Default 2002 Legacy Shift Linkage + kartboy VS STi short shift linkage + kart boy

I'm about to do a 4EAT to 5MT swap on my Impreza. I have shift linkage from a 2002 legacy, and I do want the STI 5MT shift linkage that I had in my old WRX, but I don't have a lot of cash to spend right now. What is the difference in the linkage? I am going to install the TWM, or Kart boy short shifter, kart boy front, and rear shifter bushing either way. What I want to know is what kind of difference in feel will their be using the STI linkage VS the Legacy linkage after I put the shifter and bushing in them? If there is not a dramatic difference I am going to stick with the legacy linkage.

the lever is about the only thing that is different on the sti short shifter setup vs. the stock wrx or would assume legacy setup. You cannot however just swap over the sti lever since the spacing is different. Just get the kartboy or similar lever.

Thanks, I just wanted to make sure that there wouldn't be a HUGE difference in the feel or the shortness of shifts.

ok there are a lot of car parts being thrown around here
is the STi linkage your talking about from the 6spd? if so it will not work since the lengths are all wrong. if its from the 5spd your fine. Both linkages are almost identical.
why not just get the whole kartboy package( shifter, front and rear bushings)

Tom thanks for the help. I said STi 5MT shift linkage several times in my post. I am talking about my 5 speed transmission that is going into my RS. My plan was to buy the entire kart boy package anyway. I was just considering the TWM shifter, but I think I'll stick with Kart boy. I was looking on the site to order and is there any combo or discount for buying short shifter, front and rear bushings, and diff bushings?
