Default USDM STi into 93-01 Impreza

Ive spent 35 min doing searches and just get alot of crap that isnt what Im looking for SO.............quickly in general.........I know some have done it.....what problems, concerns, positives, ballpark costs did you run into.

Will the entire drivetrain/tranny and all fit? Lastly, sourcing the engine, I can't imagine there are too many junkyard USDM STi motors, I suppose you could buy new if money wasnt a concern, but the few who have done it what would you suggest.

Thanks in Advance...........PS if someone has a thread that I didnt find posting that would be fine too so I dont waste anyones time or space on here.

because #1 you gotta remeber if your missing one part that could lead to months of waiting and unknown costs... also the STi is drive by wire so you need the Sti gas pedal another thing the DCCD tranny also has its own wiring harness and brain so you will need those along with the thumb wheel selector and the DCCD manual or automatic button or whatever it's called

25k is rediculous.

There is a shop in CA, garage tuning, that does motor only STi swaps for 8k w/ labor, and complete drivetrain swaps for 11k, IIRC.

25k is crazy, I would love to know where the hell you found a salvage car for that much. I imagine he is talking the purchase price of his RS plus the STI salvage car.

Depending on damage STI FULL salvage cars are hard to come by. Easily getting into the 12k range because it's hard to catch them before they actually hit the auction.

Good luck

Yea STI wrecks are expensive. I'm a big advocate on here of getting cheap cars at salvage auction for swaps, but STI's are outrageous even there. Last 2 I've seen went for about 13k.

25k? I hope that includes the cost of a 2.5rs, and a bunch of other modifications as well.

Best route for the 2.5l is Forester XT's or Baja's. Those wrecks can be had for under 5 grand.

yes but thats including wrx tranny not sti 6-speed. Im about to have it done by Kevin(well 1 month away).
8k for the engine, about 2500 for tranny, axles etc from wrx(i know tranny sucks, but its better then what i have now, and it has lsd) another 1000 for brembos, and then there some other bits.

By the way it was so expensive because it was barely damaged. I could have drove it the way it was. I rather pay more for a barely damaged Sti because then I can make sure that everthing is ok

That's a lot of money for cars that have salvage titles. Those guys must be making hand over fist...

I did not hear about the seat and full interior, but hey for 16 large, that's sweet. I am talking about AeroSim. Is that who you mean?
