Default JDM Version 8 dccd

I just did a V8 swap and now i want the dccd. I was wondering if anyone knows about dccd and could post the different set up's (ie what is different from the V8 than the older models). also what controller i need and what i (or the ecu) will be able to do once it is installed.

thanks for everything!!

nate

I think I made a lot of post about DCCD here and in the transmission forum.

Quick recap: V8 DCCD has automatic mode, supports ABS and has quite a few more sensors into it (like a G-sensor that wasn't in the earlier version). If you the full harness and the DCCD controller, should be just plug and play (need to have the G-sensor under the handbrake of course).

I was talking to Kingpin and they had some kind of controller that is much easier to hook up and has more options

RocketRally would have a similar kind of arrangement. If you want to use the factory DCCD controller, you would need the STi harness as the DCCD harness is merged into the main harness. RalliSpec would also have a separate harness for just DCCD but that only works with the older controller (no automatic mode, less sensors to deal with)

man this really sucks because i had no idea that my tranny had dccd and when i got my swap i sold my whole harness.....i dont think i would have swaped them out anyways.....huge pain. so has anyone here put one of the kingpin dccd controllers on thier JDM V8?? anyone know how hard it is? does the dccd hook up to the ECU??

thanks for everything guys, you are always a HUGE help.

Acutally, the older controller is compatible with the center diff, it just means you won't have automatic mode and ABS could be tricky since the control unit wouldn't know about it being active (the controller is supposed to open up the center diff under any sort of braking or ABS). Just get the old separated harness and controller and you should be good

any idea which wire/harness on the trans itself to give 12v to so that the diff will lock 50/50?

that product from rocket seems interesting. There was also another Canadian company offering a DCCD controller with a few bells and whistles for around $400 i believe...i'll see if I can dig up that link.
