Default Lots of Pics of my MR2 pre and post swap

Story:

Bought my 4th MR2 from local guy Donnie. 93 NA 5spd. in very decent body and mechanical shape. Was a downgrade after trading the WRX for a cheap rusty GSR that ended up being in back shape. 227+ HP tp 170/180 HP to 135 hp.

It came with KYB AGX's and that's it.

A few weeks after owning with no plans to mod it, I tried to pass a lady in a Hyndai Sonata V6 on the highway, and she pulled on me, I knew something had to be done. Then the swap idea came in to my mind.

Pics of the weekend I got her (notice the GSR):

NA motor

NA engine cover

Amber part of rear turn signals

First mods I did were to paint the amber part of the tails all red and to get the windows tinted 20 in back, 35 in front.

auto-x wheels and tires. . .

Now came finding a clip and a shop to install it. . .I found both @ http://www.paautoracing.com/home.htm in Souderton, PA. Next I had a few months until my clip came in, so I started buying up parts left and right for maintenance sakes and upgrade sakes. bigger turbo, full tune up, fuel pump, and a slew of OEM Turbo MR2 parts (gauge cluster, interior trim, fog lights, engine cover, x-brace, some chrome IC pipes, red hoses, intercooler, aluminum shroud/fans, etc etc etc.

The clip came in with a blitz intake and a "unknown" muffler and a pre powdercoated red valve cover.

Here are pic of the car when I got her back from the swap in mid/late March.

At the time of pickup, not everything was installed that I had bought

nice and dirty(notice the preinstalled dent I bought the car with below the trim on the drivers side door)

Holy Fart Can-thank god it's not ricey loud at least (and it's going away this weekend)

In the next few weeks, I got some yellow www.rockblocker.com film for the fogs, got the dent fixed, the ugly black trim painted to match and got some "bling" in the engine bay going. . .

First the yellow fogs

then came some bling in the engine (red turbohoses and the polished charge pipe)

Then came some more bling under the hood. ..chrome stuff, wires, etc. . .

Then I wired up the fogs independantly and shaved the Toyota part off the valve cover

Then most recently, I added the bigger IC (which I had to have extra pipes made) a MBC and a boost gauge.

She still needs a few things, as there's a HUGE MR2 meet in Topeka, Kansas next weekend (Jun 10-12) and I'm hoping to have them done. Things like custome MR2 pedals (not a cheasy kit, actual heal toe pedals) catch can, the rest of the gauges on a CF plate, a FCD, swapping exhaust for a stock one so I can get a DP. . .paint the calipers and powerdercoat the spare stock wheels a high gloss black.

heh, I know how you feel. My rs isn't fast, and a lot of every day cars will take it easily, and every time that happens all I can think is "turbo, swap, turbo, swap, turbo, swap." Eventually it will happen, but part time at a paint store is mos def not the way

car looks great man...

before the intercooler/MBC/gauge went in, at stock boost levels I was only able to muster out a 14.2 . . .but it was only my 2nd time at the track, it was 45 degress (on AVS ES 100's) and I was still getting used to the Stage 3 Clutch's grabbing powers. . .

with the IC/MBC she feels like a high 13 sec car @ 12 PSI. . .after I get my fuel issue fixed with the FCD, I'll be running 15-16 PSI daily. . .good for mid to low 13's and possibly 19~20 PSI on the track for high 12's I hope. . .

the clip alone, shipped to the shop that did the swap was $2600.

But I've spent about 3x that total all said and done, with every mod and dollar accounted for on the car. Not a bad investment for me from a 135 NA single wheeled powered cool looking car to a 220+ HP, LSD ball bearing turboed beast.

I think, honestly, in her condition, I could get 10-11K for her, and that's only taking a small hit on her. . .(though she's not for sale!)

Member HD-sw20 has a 91/92 MR2 also with a Gen 3 clip (in the states Gen 1 was 91-92, Gen 2 was 93-95 and in UK/Japan/Aust, Gen 3 was 96-99 which went up from 200 HP to 240, including a ball bearing CT20B turbo and more aggressive cams, etc. I got his spare CT20B turbo from him.

edit: up close pic of turbo. . .a OEM toyota one. . .it will be fine up to about 280~300 WHP. . .I suspect after all's said and done, I'll be in the 220-240 WHP range and that's plenty for me. . .
