Default What aftermarket parts are you or will you be looking for?

Just wondering what people out there want to do to thier Tribeca.

Personaly I am going to Modify some GPMoto coilovers to fit on it. Then either paint the chrome parts of the grills or do a mesh grill in black.

See how that works for a while from there.

Is there anything available from the aftermarket yet? I don't think this vehicle will get the nearly the attention as performance-oriented Subies do, so I think aftermarket parts might be scarce, at least for a while. Maybe by the time SEMA rolls around you'll see some stuff.

Well, I think thats the point of the post. What do people want? People voicing desires tend to make things happen sooner rather than later.

While not necessarily aftermarket...I'd be happy to score some factory EDM or JDM parts for it. Specifically the rear fog light assembly and amber rear turnsignal lamps.

An OEM HID Kit Maybe the 2008's will have HID's. Then wait a few months for people to wreck their 2008's, goto ebay, and Boom....retrofit OEM HID's in your 2006-2007 Tribecas. Or Subaru can be nice and just sell them directly to 2006-2007 owners.

For those former ricers out there, I can get aluminum floor mats made for the Tribeca's to match those w/ the Special Edition package chrome set. Throw in some mods for the puddles lights...maybe change the LED's to other colors, hmm..the possibilities are endless. LOL.

I'd do a drop (1-2") with a comfortable ride and would like a bigger rear swaybar.

I'd like to see Cobb come out with an Accessport for the B9, maybe an exhaust and intake as well, nothing crazy.
For the exterior, the only thing I've seen are rainguards from a few different companies.
I've always like grill guards, wouldn't mind seeing something available for the Tribeca.

I'd also like to see a lowering kit made. I'd prefer some coilovers so for the winter I can set it to stock height then lower it on some 19's or 20's for the rest of the year.

Can someone point me to some aftermarket websites for the Tribeca even if our choices are limited.

umm....do u mean aftermarket webstores? Cuz Nasioc IS an aftermarket website forum I don't know of any decent Tribeca webforums though. If I ever do end up getting one, I'll probably add a section in my own website to cover the Tribeca's. Other than that, Tribeca owners are, unfortunately still a rare breed.

I did some research and found that Eibach, one of the world's largest lowering spring shops doesn't even carry any products for the Tribeca. I guess they figure the numbers just aren't there and right now, they're right. Hopefully the May update will increase the numbers of Tribeca owners.

I'm pretty sure I read that Subaru only sold half as many Tribecas as they planned. They're hoping the 2008's will turn this arround.

If I get a used 06 (it's that or a new 08) then I would like to somehow get a body color grille, or at least a black one. I'm not a fan of chrome.

Hey...like when is the last time you saw a tv add for the Tribeca?? I remember them running some ads for the '06 when it first came out....but that was about it! If they'd show off the great looking interior and hit the right exterior camera angles, plug it every day for a year...I bet they could have sold a lot more of them! I think a lot of the problem has been poor promotion. When I'm running around in my '07...people are stopping me all the time and asking me "What IS that? I've never seen one before!" And all the comments I get are good one's about how great it looks!! The puddle lights at night turn heads in any parking lot! If people knew what they were and could see one or test drive one at a dealership...they'd be buying these things left and right! I still think it's the best kept Crossover vehicle secret out there. And believe it or not..I'm kinda happy about it. It keeps it on the down low...makes it a great looking vehicle that get's a lot of attention, with no overkill. (Like the Dodge Magnums or the Chrysler 300's....great looking cars but way too many on the road. Ho-hum.)

My dealer told me that he thought Subaru's where some of the best cars built today...and were one of the best kept secrets in the auto industry. The Beca is Subaru's top of the line. It deserves more. My guess is that when the '08 comes out....this car will be discovered big time. And well it should be!

As far as aftermarket parts goes...I'd like to see some custom grilles offered, light kits, etc. Most of what I'd enjoy having are interior comforts, though....like true I Pod Integration, Surround sound, Bluetooth, perhaps voice activation. I'm definitely going to rebuild the sound system from the ground up in the very near future (New speakers and power amps added to the existing entertainment system. Stock system is WEAK! I can't stand it!!!)

Of course, these are all things that factory should be offering....maybe in the next few years? Right now, I think the Beca is technologically lacking in a lot of areas...but it's still a great vehicle overall.

Kmunch,

I totally agree; best kept secret out there. I love that only see another B9 maybe once a week around me. My dealer friend told me he sells only about one or two a month.

The sound system is adequate, but definitely lacks the way it should be for a $30k+ vehicle. I, too, have thought about moderately making my sound system better. Keep us up to date on what and how you make it better.

I'm a musician and a bit of an audiophile as well...so, to me, the stock sound system sounds like listening to it while sitting inside a cardboard box. It just sounds dead to me! (Even worse than my '03 Outback Limited system sounded!)

I've talked to a couple of my local electronics stores...and looked up a few things at Crutchfield. I think that by upgrading the main speakers with some better ones, and adding a power amp (About $650 installed for everything) it should significantly improve the stock system. I'm a little concerned about the amp...because it may not power all of the auxillary speakers that come standard in the car (altho I know Subaru offers an accessory amp that works, so I think some aftermarket units may work as well). I'm no expert on this....but I'm almost ready to do this. I'm going to have them take a close look at the car before I buy anything....that's for sure. Don't want to make any expensive mistakes!

I've been down the audiophile trail myself. Not talented enough to play it though. I've owned the stereo push-pull tube amp with tube preamp with a set of Voight (if I recall) 1/4 wave transmission line speakers.

I think that the minimum would be an amp to drive the factory speakers and a real sub (nothing real big though). It's amazing what a good clean power amp can do to the drivers (make or break them). The thing that sucks about car audio, and why I never bought real good stuff, is that you have got to battle the already present 70-80 dB road noise. I've thought about using the cargo space in my 5 pax that the 3rd row would be to place an amp to drive the oem speakers. And even though some don't like them, I would get an 8" or 10" Bazooka tube for a sub. I had an 8" in an F150 and thought it was great for the money.

According to the electrical prints I have you could use a 4 channel amp to drive all but the sub. The midbass and tweeters are tied in parallel with no appearent crossover. Shoot me PM if you want to look at the schematics.

I will be doing a custom mb quart system very soon as soon as its done I will post pics. it will include a 8" 4" an a tweet all in the front doors.

I realy would love some coil-overs and an exahust. If cobb ever produces the supercharger kit they did I would buy it for sure.

I'd like more chrome decor for the vehicle to give it a more upscale appearance. For example, most of the more "upscale" vehicles I see these days have those chrome moldings around the windows, some chrome around the lift handle on the rear hatch, and even chrome strips running along the doors. Tribeca has none of this.

I'd also like a built in laser to automatically shoot the next f-cker that door dings me! Seriously, this vehicle seems to be a magnet for door dings as I now have about 8 noticable "dimple" dings on the sides of the car. In fact, i even have one on the roof!

Here is a site that may wet your appetite for what you wish for. http://www.mycarworx.com/tribeca.html I'm considering getting the Body Side Moulding Kit. Unfortunately, they don't sell lasers.

Thanks for the info.

I wish they has the side body moulding kit with a thing recessed chrome strip imbedded in it the way I've seen on the VW Toureg.

However, I MIGHT do this:

I wish they'de have images of it on the car without all of the other stuff on it too so I can better judge its appeal.

A CAI(cold air intake) would be nice, manifold, a super charger would be great. I thought about having an after market speaker system put in. I even had all the speakers, amps, sub, and all the small details thought out with the budget to do everything. I went to my local installer and he told me don't bother. It's an OEM radio and to do everything that I wanted, it still wasn't going to sound as good as a system with an aftermarket radio. I was suprised he didn't try to sell me everything in his shop. this car has so much potential if only items were available. subaru messed up big time by not making items in the 07's compatible in the 06's. i.e. xm radio kit (ask me how I know ), ipod interface, back up camera.
