Default should i get Hankook Ventus R-S2 or Falken Azeins sport RT215

Right now i have set of 215/45/17 pzero m+s for purpose, i just came from a track day yesterday (circlet track). While the pzero do excess a normal all season tires can do on a track, i realize is still a step dowm from summer tire. With my budget i can only afford a stock size summer tires and those summer tires are mainly for track only. I come down to hankook rs2 and falken rt215 and I need advice on this two tires. looking at the tire pattern the rt215 looks pattern seem more aggressive but they discontinue them for some reason. The rs2 is still kinda new to the market.

they discontinued the 215 because they now have the 615, which no longer is offered in the stock size. and i wouldnt choose a tire solely base on their tread pattern.

i run the rs2 in 225/50/16 on 16x7" in wheels. so far, i think they are great.
also they are amazingly quiet compared to the 215s. which i had last year.

Had Hankooks, not a fan. Requires high tire pressure and very inconsistent in wet conditions. Falkens might be a better bet. Goodluck.

the rs2 has been getting pretty good reviews and has become pretty popular with the auto-x crowd. I was the only one running them at the first auto-x this season and now it's hard to find places that have them in stock. The rs2 and 615 are both pretty new so the verdict is still out.
I use the rs2's as daily driver/auto-x/open track tire.....and I would def buy them again
i autox'd them on a cold rainy day and even with cold temps wet traction was excellent

+1 on the R-S2's. I've had mine since about April, just for autox, and they've been every bit as good as rt-215's.

They don't have as stiff of a sidewall as the Falkens, but they don't heat up and get greasy like the 215's either... so if you want consistent, it helps if the tire doesn't 'grease-out', IMHO. Friends that have driven my car largely agree that they have pretty much the same grip, maybe a little more, than the 215's. I've seen a small bit of chunking on the first 'rib' inboard of the outter tread-blocks.. but I'm not super worried at this time.

I'm running mine at full tread b/c I'm too cheap to spring for shaving.. so no doubt my experiences are different than someone who's running shaved R-S2's.

Their wet performance is quite good, at least at full tread. Jury's still out as the tire gets older... no doubt many reports will come in over the summer.

Considering the Falken RT-215's are discontinued, this tire looks like a good 'cheap' alternative since the Falken 615's are so much more pricey now.

I've been running about 38 to 40lbs in them at the autox, no issues. I suspect the guy above talking about his bad experiences w/'kooks is not talking about R-S2's (but I'll let him confirm that if he chooses)... so take that with a grain of salt.

Good luck.
