Question Roof Rack

Does anyone put a roof rack on their Impreza? I have a TS and would like to put one to hold the carrier (box). Do the one available at Cdn Tire any good?

Go to sears and buy yourself some "Sportrack" roof boxes. The ones sold at Canadian Tire are too flimsy. I've compared the Canadian Tire roof boxes to the SportRack boxes and found that the plastic used in the canadian tire roof boxes are too thin.

When the plastic is too thin, and the box is loaded with stuff, it makes it really hard to close the key latch cause the cover deforms.

I like the sportrack stuff..

Hi Joe,
Thanks for your link. I've been looking for it in the past couple of days.
Did you try SportRack's Frontier rack? That's the rack available at Cdn Tire and its the rack I was asking about. I'll also try my 2 local Sears to see if they carry any SportRack stuff.
Also, does anyone know where I can get the SportRack Mondial rack? They've even got a picture of an RS on their page so I'm sure that will it.

I'll bet these things are pricey. Thule boxes start at something ridiculous like $300.

Go to a ski/snowboard shop as well as bike shops (particularly those w/ racing teams) to see which brands they recommend. They have usually tried everything out there and know from experience which brand will make the one to suit your needs.

Don't skimp when it comes to racks. You may end up w/ a detachment on the highway or a theft at an extended stop. Get something that exceeds your current need b/c once you have one you'll find yourself using it more & more often, eventually leading to needing something bigger. It's inevitable.

Happy hunting.

We have the largest car top cargo box that sportrack makes, and also the hitch mount bicycle carrier.

My brother in law told me that Sears was starting to carry a whole bunch of SportRack stuff.

BTW, My brother in law is the logistics director for Sportrack. Kinda got my stuff really cheap. (free) ha ha...

If anyone needs to know where other sportrack products can be bought, call (800) 561-0716, and ask them for dealer locations in your area.

Hope this helps.
