Question Hella 500 Driving light

Do you use the H3 bulbs that come with the kit, or are you using aftermarket Superwhite H3 bulbs? If you are using superwhite, what watts are you running?

Is Kart-boy mounting bracket necessary to mount the lights on the bumper?

Thanks

I can't vouch for the bulbs, but the mounts are nice to have, if only as a guide for drilling the holes you need to mount the lights. They do make the lights come out farther from the bumper (but nmot too much; you can't use the light covers either way), allowing you to access the adjusting screws.

anyone want to tell me what bulbs you are using in your Hella 500 Driving light?

I can get these bulbs cheap. Philips Cool blue, Philips Vision, Raybrig, Bosch, Piaa (J-Spec) HID-l@@k-a-like bulbs.

Which one you think will perform the best with the 500?

I'm using 100 watt hyper white bulbs in mine, I have had no problems with them since I have put the bulbs in over an year ago. The bulbs that come with them are good but the lights are better with the higher wattage and since they are already hooked through a relay you don't have to worry about fring the wires with higher wattage lights.

I'm running the stock bulbs, not sure why you'd need more than that. I tried to do the install without the kartboay mounts and it was a mess. There's no real rigidity without them.

I have a set of Kartboy mounts holding my 500 driving lamps in place... never tried it without the mounts but getting it installed this way was a cinch. BTW, I use the stock 55 watt H3's and they're not so bright as to attract unwanted police attention in the city.

I made my own mounts. The Kartboy ones are probably worth it. I just didn't want to wait. I am using the bulbs that came with the kit. Are you getting fog or driving lights? I think they sell both. I have the driving lights, and they're quite bright.

GRWRX, what did you do to make your own mounts? I'm wondering if I can get away with making my own rather then buying some....
