Default Calling OT pseudo-doctors

Yesterday I found a lump on my neck. It's hard, a little smaller than a pea, and I can wiggle it around under my skin. It sticks out a little if I turn my head to the side. It's about an inch above my clavicle.

Today I found another one on the same side of my neck, just behind my left tonsil. It's a little smaller, and a little more painful. The lumps themselves don't hurt, but if I mess with them, they irritate the flesh around them.

I've not asked for opinions outside of OT yet, because I have a huge hickey on that side of my neck and I'm not asking anyone/going into a doctors office until it's gone.

So am I dying, or what?

this is not exactly what a real doctor would probably tell you, but its what i would do.

lance one (sterilized needle) and pop the other like a zit if at all possible. see what happens. if anything comes out, examine it.

grant - gets similar sounding bumps on teh neck from ignored ingrown hairs

This is because you are holding all your rage inside. Do people call you Mellow-Yellow? If so, you best let the anger out. Or you risk turning into this:

I myslef would most likely do what scaryfast would. Granted, I am not a MD, and as a Paramedic I like to do weird things that involve scalpels. I would ask my wife, whom is an RN, but she is at work. If you are genuinely concerned about it go see your Private Practitioner. It could also just be a cyst. Take a picture and post it .

The bumps are enlarged lymph nodes. Were you or are you currently sick? Running a fever?

Fever+lymph nodes+"I have a hickey"= You may have Mononucleosis

Yeah, I was certain I was too late to be the first to say that after I read his post. It doesn't even take a pseudo-doctor, just someone who's got the ****ing things full of **** on themselves. :P

I have some permanently swollen nodes... Granted, I'm likely going to die... *laugh* No, just kiddinck! :O I'm just full of cysts and nodes. It's fun and good times.

A swollen lymph node will be pretty firm and have no color. The one by your tonsil sounds exactly like a swollen lymph node. The mode itself is found right below the earlobe on the base of the jaw. Not sure about the other one. Might be a thyroiod thing. That's the only other galnd I can think of in that area.

Yup, if what you're saying is true. That they're hard and non-tender to palpation, go see a doctor ASAP.
