Impreza GC8 95 L coupe impreza ej22 2.2 performance from a 3" wrx cat back?

Hey, I'm getting a custom 3" cat back from a buddy with a 2003 WRX. Will it fit ok & will I see any preformance from it? 3" on non-turbo ok? may run N20 or Upgrade to a turbo later. Should it be ok untell then? $150 finished custom 3" cat back is to good to pass on ;=]. It has a small flowmaster on it (Hight Flow). Books I have seen say 3" will be okay but may hender it in the low end.

What do you ppl think?

pretty much a bad idea. first of all you have to do some modification to get it to fit. second of all 3" is WAY too big. good bye low end torque. and your engine cant even rev high enough to utilize that abusrd exhaust diameter.

3" is WAAAAY too big for an N/A car. Heck, thats big even for Mustangs and other v8's...

Use 2.25" piping.

i have a WRX N1 catback system on my car (2.55" mid pipe, 3.05" axle back), and yeah u lose low end, quite a bit. i probably will get a RS N1 soon (2.35" all the way), if i do get it i'll let u know how much difference do i see in performance.

nonetheless, 3" piping sounds like a bad idea, unless u wonna turbocharge it soon after u get the exhaust.

Wolf, is it that bad? It would be tell I could get a turbo kit together. Is it useable untell then? I could just leave it off & put it on when I get the turbo.?.?... The WRX we put it on had a Invidia Down Pipe ( Very sweet looking!) & no intake/intercooler upgrade. Made a noticable gain.

You'll see performance............pretty bad performance. Don't do it! 2.5" is even pushing it. At least 2.0", at the most 2.25". 2.25" will be fine, even with nitrous.
