Smile Thoughts for the future

Hey guys, new to the NASIOC world, thought id see what advice you guys had.

Heres the short version of the story. Im tired of my car, and im moving up in the world to 2 liter flat 4 boosted goodness, probably next year once i pay off the folly of my last monstrosity.

Before i go all crazy and buy everything under the sun (like i did last time, and got stuck with an abomination), i plan on thinking my mods through this time, and knowing what i want before i buy anything.

This is my current plan, let me know if anything stands out as a glaring fault, or if anything else better is out there...

Engine - Vishnu Stage 1 (pulley, up-pipe, turbo-back exhaust, reflash), K&N Filter.
Suspension - Prodrive springs, Progress tech rear sway bar, (what do you guys reccomend for bushings?)
Tranny - Clutch? Flywheel? Shifter bushings ? B&M Short shifter.
Rims - ROTA Boost, or Tarmac 17 X 7
Tires - thinking Ectsa MX
Exterior - Prodrive lights, lip and spoiler.

If im forgetting anything, or if you guys know of a better way, please let know.

Peace

I take it you've been lurking and have done your searches on this topic?

Seeing as how I don't have a WRX or STi I probably can't be much help in regards to actual turbo parts and such BUT you can't go wrong with enlisting Rocket Rally to help you out in that department. They know what they're doing, and I'm pretty sure can get you what you need, otherwise you wouldn't need it.

As for tires...the MX are pretty decent, but if you're getting an STi you're going to have good proper tires already. I've used Falken ST115s before and liked them a lot for being really REALLY quiet, and am using Toyo T1Rs right now. These things are an improvement over the already good ST115s but aren't as quiet though.

Exterior I suggest just chroming everything, and then putting in green neon underbody lights. It has to be green though, not blue, not purple but green. Don't ask why, just do green. Trust me.

good choices so far, but budget in for some Koni or KYB struts. Stockers aren't worth keeping if you like to handle.

Congrats on making the move.
A little advice if I may.

>Engine - Vishnu Stage 1 (pulley, up-pipe, turbo-back exhaust, reflash), K&N Filter.

Why not stay local for the engine management? I doubt if Shiv has much experience tuning with our fuel, our climate conditions etc. I would of course recommend our own Rocket Reflash along with the up-pipe, downpipe and exhaust. K&N drop in filter as well. Pulley's not neccessary but if you want them go for it.

Suspension - Prodrive springs, Progress tech rear sway bar, (what do you guys reccomend for bushings?)

I would definitely get struts along with springs but if you do just want springs with stock struts Prodrive is the way to go. Sway bars, Cusco, Whiteline, Perrin...not too much difference in them all in terms of performance. Any decent sway bar will come with the correct sized bushings. Don't bother with end links.

Tranny - Clutch? Flywheel? Shifter bushings ? B&M Short shifter.

Kartboy short shifter, We have some great clutch kits as well depending on how aggressive you want it. Slightly lightened flywheel is good as well but don't go too light. Before you do the flywheel drive a car that has one so you know what you're getting into.

Rims - ROTA Boost, or Tarmac 17 X 7

I tihnk all 17" Rota's are 7.5" in width and up.

Tires - thinking Ectsa MX

Not bad, also consider the Falken Azenis Sport, Michelin has some great tires but then you're getting up there in price.

Exterior - Prodrive lights, lip and spoiler.

Nice.

Don't forget, you need to stop. I would recommend at a minimum new pads, stainless lines and some decent fluid. If you can spend a little more some nice FHI 4-pots in the front plus good pads Stainless lines and Dot4~ fluid will be very nice.

Not knocking Rota or anything ...But if your willing to spend the kind of money you will on Prodrive's lighting system ($$$$$) ...Why not spend the money on a name Rim aswell...? Like i said ..I know Rota's quality is just fine ...But ...Come on

I guess for the lights i should have said "Prodrive Style".... 2 grand + for lights is a little ludicrous...

Thanks for all the advice, ill definitely give Rocket Rally a call...

The monstrosity.... well, the less said the better, but lets just say it has an H badge, two spoilers, and a very very big sound system. It had an R33 lookalike body kit till it got smashed off on a set of railroad tracks.

Ive learned from my mistakes, and hopefully Rice isnt a terminal disease.

And as for the green underglow, dont you think that would clash with the WRB paint?

Green neon? Someone has been playing too much NFSU2

Pink / purple is the only way to go with a Subie. Gotta keep representin' STi.

green neon is on sale at Princess Auto.
Cheap too, $5 for a 12" tube. I'm going to do it for the shock factor alone.

I actually haven't played that game unfortunately.

But green is in here in Vancouver now.

Oh, and we'd like some pictures of this monstrosity please.
