Post Need help with PayPal problem please read!

Back in March I was interested in buying a 22B BRP wing from dib123 on this message board. After conversing with him a few times I found out he had a unorthudox pulley kit for sale too after I had already sent him the $275 for the wing. So I cancelled that order (or so I thought) and sent him $400 for the pulley kit and the wing. It is now 2 months later and I just now see on my bank statement that I was charged $275 and $400 both. So in other words this dib123 guy on the board got $275 extra from me. How do I go about getting my money back? Him and I didnt have that great of parting to begin with cause when I recieve my wing it was slightly damaged. Either from bad shipping or him not being honest. Either way he has $275 of my money. If he refuses to give it back how do I go about taking my money back? I will PM him and try to talk to him about it but I dont know how well that will go over. We'll see.

This is a situation that I dread. My only suggestion is to take it up with him directly and if that doesn't work, you can always get your credit card company on your back and try to reclaim your cash. Good Luck.

You'll have to talk to either Paypal or your bank. I don't know about how PayPal operates, but if you have a good bank, they will credit your account and go after the person for you. If not, well...

I PMed the guy. I will see what he says. I am not very happy that he conveniently "overlooked" the fact that I had sent him an extra $275. I will go to the bank tomorrow and talk to them about it. Hopefully dib123 will have gotten back to me by tonight.

If you used a credit card/debit card, you are protected. Call the 800 number on the back of the card and dispute the $275 charge. You'll get your money back ... I hope you got your parts ok first though.

brian, loki, and anyone else: paypal does not offer the same protections that a normal credit card transaction would. read through the paypal terms of service CAREFULLY.

compiled with their requirement for a checking account number to do anything but very limited transactions, I won't touch it.

if someone does give paypal a checking account number, please do go through the trouble of creating a second account just for paypal. DO NOT put in the account number for your main account that you put your paycheck into and pay bills from! be vigilant with the second account, only transferring in enough money to clear purchases you initiate and if someone pays you, quickly transfer the money out of that account and into one that isn't listed on paypal.

I will clear this up. Tim payed me 275 for a wing that i had. Then he cancelled it when he realized that i had a pulley. I don't know why he didn't just send me another 125 but he didn't. Then he sent me 400 for both because in his words he liked even numbers. I have just checked with paypal and checked my numbers and I never got that 275. I only got the 400 that he sent after he cancelled it. Check your bank statement because maybe they didn't credit you yet.

On a seperate note it really pisses me off that without contacting me first he posts this message. This club is built on trust and when we can't trust a fellow member it makes it very hard for that member to sell anything again. He could have simply called his bank or contacted paypal first before posting this. I am sorry if no one understands where i am coming from but I am a business man and when a member makes false accusations about someone on the board that he sells stuff on without checking first it kills my business.

Tim check your numbers!!!

Thanks for the input Loki. I will call that number tonight. I got my parts Loki but they werent exactlt "ok."

I sent a message to PayPal too so hopefully we will get this straightened out. I have checked my bank statements and it has been a while since the cancelled transaction and it should have been credited back to me by now and yet it hasnt. I dont know who has my money, may it be Paypal or dib or the credit card company. I dont know. Thats why I am posting this hoping someone would have some insite since I have never had any bad dealings with PayPal before.

And dib not to be rude but I could really care less about your ideas of "trust". You sent me a broken wing! And after I brought that to you you basically said "well your SOL dude see ya." Of which I replied back all be it not very nicely only to have you say you would send me some extra paint you had so I could atleast attempt to fix the wing myself. Which was nice on your part. But you never sent the paint! I finally took it in and had it touched up. But I still dont know how I am going to fix the huge hole in it.

I dont know who's fault it is man. I dont really even care. But I want/need my money back!

I sent you a perfectly fine wing with no dings in it what so ever. I told you that i put insurace on it and to take it up with UPS. I didn't send the paint because it was in the clove compartment when i traded in my car. If you check the ID you will see that it was canceled so you now no that I dont have your money. You sent an E-check maybe there is some weird way of refunding I don't know but I promise you I don't have it. I just bothers me that you couldn't have talked to me about it first before you bad mouthed me on I-club. Sorry if we have had bad dealing but I am not to blame for you lost money whether you like to believe so or not. Maybe your still mad about the wing or something and this is your way of getting back at me but you should have waited to hear from paypal first thats all. My apologies for the confusion.

I believe the only person who was at fault is the person who refused to either send the wing insured parcel, or refused to pay for insurance or bring it up.

I do believe it is the purchaser's responsibility to request and pay for insurance when they buy an item, especially a used item.

uh, the sender makes the claim against UPS. (unless the receiver pays for the shipping and the insurance on it.)

I dunno how it works Colin. I have never had a problem before and I buy ALOT of stuff online. It's probably to long to make a claim anyways. I didnt see ANY damage on the packing. None. It came into our business shipping department and they didnt see any evidence of being miss handled in shipping. This led me to believe it was either broken before it was shipped or that the company whom he had package it broke it. Either way I have a broken 22B wing and I am out $275. Slightly broken 22B wing I can live with. But losing $275 somewhere isnt acceptable. Hopefully I will know something tomorrow.

Please send a pic of this broken wing. The way you describe the wing it sounds like it is in two pieces and there wasn't a scratch on the wing so go talk to UPS. And if you are having a problem with paypal or your bank don't post it here. You can plainly see by putting in the ID number I posted that the payment was canceled so go talk to Paypal. Don't bad mouth me and ignore my response and explainations. This post was started to ask about paypal and it turned into your unsatisfaction with me. Before this turns into a pissing contest this thread should be locked and maybe we can talk like civilized people through email if you feal like emailing me back. Or you can continue to be childish and ignore me and cry about your "broken" wing.

E-checks are weird... because they take a "hold" from your credit card.....basically.. they charge you TWICE.. then refund you ONE of them. I sent someone an E-check by accident and I was checking up my balance a couple days later and it looked like Paypal charged me TWICE.... so I called Paypal up and the guy explained what happens... after a few weeks they refunded the "hold".

dib if you remember I tried to send you pics the day I got the wing in. I took pics of the box before I even opened it just in case. Even though the box was fine. I then opened the box to find it totally full of popcorn which was good I was thinking. And then I see the wing is even wrapped in bubble wrap after I dug through tons of popcorn. So I was thinking "wow he went all out packing this mofo." I get to the actual wing though and what do I see? Three spots the size of dimes that need painted. The whole bottom side where the trim goes around the trunk needs painted. And there is a ding taken out of the back corner tip the size between a nickle and a quarter and about half a centimeter deep. Obviously, not being very happy, I took pictures of this and got ahold of you. Told you what was wrong and offered to send you the pics. You said you didnt want the pics and to take it up with UPS. Basically just leaving me out to dry. So I replied back not happy at all and you then offered to send me some touchup paint so I could attempt to puddy up the crack and paint up the bad spots. You never sent the paint. You never got back to me. But oh...you seem to wanna fix it now that I make the problem public? BAH! It is to late to take it up with UPS probably. Been two months. But what was I supposed to do? You were definitely not going to help me out. Quite frankly I came off with the feeling that you KNEW there was the problem with the wing and just "forgot" to tell me. What else could have happened? If the wing really was OKAY when you sent it then it isnt UPS's fault. The box was absolutely fine. The wing was packaged very well. So one of two things happened. You knowingly sold me a messed up wing. Or two, the people you had package it dropped it at one point and packaged it anyways hoping that we would assume it was UPS's fault. Either way you left me in the cold.

Anyhoo...I think I have the money situation figured out (thanks for the help, you know who you are). It WAS because of the e-check thing and PayPal WAS holding my money. I will have my money shortly.

I am sorry I falsly accused you of having my money. But as upset as I am about the wing I was quick to blame you about the money too. I felt you lied to me about the wing. And the way the wing thing went I wasnt putting it past you to have my money too.

Oh well. I got the money situation taken care of. Thanks for everyones help.

I am truly sorry about the wing. I promise you with all that is holy it was in great shape when I sold it. I am going to talk to my shipping company when I go to send stuff today. That is all I can think of doing. I am sure you are upset but if you look at my situation I can't and don't have money to refund you for the wing. That is what insurance is for so that when things happen like this and shipping is to blaim we don't kill eachother.

I am glad you got your money situation figured out. No hard fealings. Yeah and I definately wouldn't mind a hug from Subie Gal
