Default Successful Real World Test of Lidatek!!!

Ha ha - I love it. It totally saved my ass. I was driving south on 104th street (Calgary Trail) and about 71-72 avenue when my Lidatek went off! I got on the breaks quickly as I had just, of course, pulled out to get around some guy. I was probably doing about 85-90, so I totally slowed down and tried to spot the trap. It turns out they were up the street 4 blocks on 67 avenue! I just rolled on by they didn't even give me a look. Eureka it worked! See diagram...

haha, great diagram!
My Escort ZR3 has saved me twice now from laser, what a great investment. Already paid for itself!

hmmmm...i wonder if my V1 would give me that kind of warning. California is starting to use LIDAR on a mass scale.

The Lidatek is a jammer - I'm not sure a warning is going to do it. I've got a Bell 980 that went off to. I couldn't get over the distance they were shooting though. They had some poor sucker in a boxster pulled over.

I should add that when I pulled out there was no other traffic ahead at all - I was an easy target and clear shot for them.

So far so good - lidar isn't RF there's no radio frequency interference concerns - I haven't flipped through the traffic acts lately though

Not to change the topic - but last night on the way home on the Whitemud fwy (in Edmonton) I come accross a Windstar on the shoulder with it's hazards on - knowing full well it was the photo radar van (it's where they always sit at that time of day) I slow down - pull over onto the shoulder - back up to right in front of the van - put on my hazards and get out. I go to the drivers window and see the operator scrmbling out of the back seat. He opens his window and is all 'what do you want' I ask him if he's okay, cause he has his hazards on. He gets real mad and says 'go away this is the photo radar van' - I told him I was just being a courtious motorist and seeing if he needed assistance. At this moment a new vette goes blowing by at about 110 - and a huge flash goes off - taking a picture of my trunk! The operator yells at me to leave. I tell him to turn off his hazards. I go to get back in my car and a pick up goes haulin by and again 'flash' another picture of my trunk.
I laughed all the way home!

Oh, the Corvette... zoom... flash... that is just gold, absolutely gold!!!!!!!!!!

I guess they are gonna HAVE TO send you the ticket for doing 110km/h in front of the van with your car off, on the side of the road!

GOOD STUFF!! I got a Lidatek installed as well. But I never had to use mine.

I got lasered and was pulled off (because I had turned this thing off). Anyways I got off with a warning so lucky me.

Lasers are not legal in Canada. If they suspect that you have one, they can impound your car and take it apart. This was why I am now driving with this off.

ahhh all this talk about radar detectors and laser jammers makes me wanna get one again... Only problem is that the problems associated with them if you get caught are not worth it imo. I used to have the Escort 8500, but that got confiscated with the popo's new spectre toy...

I was looking into laser jammers, but the problem with them now is that more and more laser guns are comming up with error codes to let the operator know that it is being jammed. Thry for sure will know whats going on if such an error code popped up on their guns.
I think I'll just patiently wait (in the slow lane) for the radar detector manufacturers to come up with something that is actually spectre-proof...

May I ask where in Canada you guys are getting the Lidatek from? I found somewhere that sells another unit (M20) or something like that, but nowhere with Lidatek .

yea, with the valentine 1...the cops can simply take it. With Lidatek it is wired through the car...and also through the back depending on if you have two transponding units or not. I was told that if they cannot remove it on the spot- which most likely they can't. Then they will impound your car and possibly do scarey stuff to it which they won't be liable for. So i leave mine off unless i do some long distance travelling.

I got mine from lidatek. They have a website I believe.

I bought mine through a groupbuy on a bmw board (m5board) where you'll find lots of discussion on the topic by actual users. See lidatek.com to buy.

I have a system that is cheaper, that never ceases to work, that is 100% legal and never fails.

It is called; I don't speed.

It's called "turn on your foglight and headlights" Road and Track did a test some years ago and found that you can reduce the distance that they can get a reading by as much as 75% with lights on. Remove front liscence plate too.

Yeah and Mythbuster busted that myth. Turn on your lights and don't speed and you don't get a ticket. Hmm something in this must be the lights...

Ontario is not Canada. Radar and Laser are legal in Albarta, which is where the thread starter lives.

Laser jammer in itself is legal, just that if the popo catches you using them, you'll be charged with obstruction of justice instead

So, whats the deal in AB, can we have only "detectors" or can we also have the "jammers" and for the noob to AB (i.e., me), is there even a difference?
