What's the deal with boost controllers?

My friend told me that since I now have a completely catless exhaust that I can
get an electronic boost controller without too much worry. Is this true and if so what are the pros/cons? thanks

your friend is not the best source of information on modifying your car.

Your best best is to read the engine management forums on this website and absorb some of the concepts (read the FAQs!) before changing things like boost level.
