Default Autometer Speedo Pod Questions

I just got around to installing my autometer 2 gauge bezel and ran into a few minor problems.

When I got the pod in I noticed that the back section is covering the top of my speedo. I can push the plastic up a bit so I can see everything fine but I am sure this won't stay like that since its not the plastics normal shape. Anyone else have this problem and have any suggestions?

Also, how exactly are those brackets supposed to work. Following the directions its impossible to mount the brackets to the gauge cluster. The screw is just too big. So I tried to turn it around so the bolt could actually fit through the hole. This worked until trying to put the screw through the pod when I realized that the two don't line up. I don't see any way that these could work with the bezel. It stays fine without it but I am going to be rallying my car so I want to make sure that everything is fastened solid.

Did I somehow possibly get the old version of the pod or is this just the way it goes with these?

The old version of the pod did have issues with the center being too low - lots of people have posted problems with the brackets - many seem to leave them off.

Does anyone know how to tell which version of the pod I have? Are there any significant markings on it that would let me know? Maybe a little different visually?

I bought this pod new a few weeks ago but something tells me its the old version. Any ideas?

I'm not terribly worried about the brackets. I should be able to make something that will work easy enough. The rest of the fitment though makes me wonder.

Come on, someone has to know the visual differences between the two?

EDIT: Maybe someone knows if the instructions that come with it say Version 2 on them?

I installed the brackets backwards from what the instructions say. The screws that attach the bezel to the brackets were very diificult to screw into the small pilot holes in the brackets, so used some 3-in-1 oil to help. Drilling them out a little might be better. My Omori gauges were so deep that I had to trim the brass studs and use nuts instead of the wingnuts to get the bezel to go on all the way. Other than that the install was a snap <rolling eyes>. No problems with the bezel covering the factory gauges.

Thanks for the reply!

So I am thinking I have the old version. There has to be some visual differences or someway to tell the two versions apart. Anyone?

I just got one of these and on the top of it is a bunch of shave type lines across the top. Did anyone have this also? It doesnt look smooth across the top. I think Im gonna have to bring out the sandpaper.

Installed the AM pod in Sept. No problems with fit. didn't use brackets, just two top factory screws. Defi boost & oil temp.
