Default Just hit the 40k mark....a couple of questions.

So I did a minor search and am still wanting some advice. I just hit my 40k mark and am wanting to do a "tune" up. What plugs are you guys running for this lovely texas summer time? Anything special I should look for when doing this? I plan on doing the plugs, wires, check the fluids (don't really want to do any major flush jobs unless anyone feels it is absolutly necessary), filters....the basic stuff.

Throw some other things out there for me to dig into once I start (besides boost fluid, muffler bearings, and the infamous turbo belt....I already changed all of that when I installed my flux capacitor ).

Thanks TXIC

I used IK22s in my Stage2 WRX, Denso Iridiums. One step colder. Had them installed at the dealer and never had a problem with them.

(I'm pretty sure they were IK22s, hahah)

Iridiums are good, but if you aren't scared of changing plugs a bit more often copper provides all the performance (if not maybe a tad more) for $2 a pop...

they don't last near as long, but they last longer than the price difference b/t the 2 (if you do installs yourself)...

Somebody want to change my transmission oil? I'm lazy.....

rear diff, too.

Oh yeah, you can do those two things at 40k if you so choose.

I'm trying to keep it as cheap as possible right now...just the basics and the mandatory stuff. I have a new turbo sitting in the house and was planning on going all out once I get that installed (my car's pinch welds are getting a little crushed due to me lifting it so often....I know about the jack spots, but my jack only goes so high and my car is already low..sometimes I have to use the pinch welds), but I'm waiting on a FMIC and some new injectors (if I don't mod the stockers).

I got tons of stuff I want to do, but am getting frustrated with my car. Exhaust is rattling against the under body and has been since my UP install, it has small leaks at DP due to a broken stud, Utec still has stutter (waiting for new firmware to be released to take care of that).

Is it easy to change the diff and tranny fluid? What about the plugs (access I mean, not is it tough to wrench on them)? Did the IK22s come pre-gapped? I think I need a new alt now too.....damn cars and them wanting my money!

BTW...anyone know a place to get a shop manual for the 02 WRX? My local AutoZone doesn't have it. I go in there and tell them I drive a WRX and they ask me if it's a truck

YM'sL

So who wants to GIVE (or sell really cheap) me a FMIC that retains the factory fogs?

Hope they actually gave you the IKs then! After I had my synchros replaced...I said "F" the dealer. The local Suby dealer for me down here sucks!

I'll probably go with the IKs for now....and then when it comes time again, I'll go with the coppers.

Tranny fluid is easy.. havent gotten around to the rear diff.. but it should be just as easy to change. Are you in DFW? There are plenty of people willing to help up here.

Im at 40k as well, Everything seems to be running good, Ive thought about doing the coolant flush but the lvl is ok and it seems to be running fine so Im not sure what else to do with it.

Nah, Houston. You guys are more than welcome to come down to my hood and work on the cars

I didn't think it would be too tough, just need to get a shop manual. I'll do a full flush after the turbo install, just need to get that done.

Exhaust is the main thing irritating the hell out of me.

Where is it hitting at? My Borla will hit the heat shield next to the driveshaft occasionally. For some reason I couldnt get it to sit directly in the middle of it.

Where the catback bolts to the mid pipe....also, the tranny mount bracket on the down pipe didn't line up, so it's not bolted right now. I think the flex on the midpipe isn't helping either.....I got some Karboy exhaust hangers...but that thing won't shut up...it's even worse when the AC is on

Shop manual = $400

Good lord.....looks like I'll just pick up the Chilton's if I can find it. A $400 book better have $20 bills for pages

Chilton's doesn't have one for the new age impreza. I think I have one for the older legacy, but most of it still applys.

Noooooooooooo.........noooooooooooo! (in my most dramatic, looking up at the sky, fist shaking abilities).

That sucks...I'm sure I can figure out how to do anything on the car, but a book might be nice.

Oh well......at least subaru offers me an SCCA entry form
