Subaru Stars 2005 2.5rs mods

All.
im pretty new to the modding and car scene..a newbie. I purchased a 05 2.5rs in jan and got hooked on autocrossing...but i need more ideas to mod out my 'normally aspirated' vehicle....any ideas/suggestions???
Also i was just looking under my hood cos CAI's have me interested...and was just wondering what will happen if i take out the intake tube that comes stock that goes from the hood through the fender well and then plugs into the factory air box??
Thank you all....

so into autox? well what I suggest is what I plan to do. I am going to get some TEIN FLEX coilovers within the next month as well as getting an injen intake.

I hope that satifies me until I save up more money, pay the car off a bit more and get this turbo kit I want.

Yeah I got my 05rs in April and Love it.

RSB, but it'll put you into the big boy category if you're concerned with what class you're racing in.

auto-x's are won with suspension and driving skill, they have very little to do with how much power you're making- especially with a torquey motor like the RS.

i'd say go for the CAI and if that's not enough for you, EQ headers and exhaust... you could do cams but they'll kill that low end that's so important for negotiating corners.

I'd say get a rear sway bar and some good tires.
that'll give you the most gains for the cheapest $

that's true only to a point. get 5 good drivers beating up on one another and ther worst car never stands a chance. i know because my '05 RS may have the best motor by far locally here, but it's also the heaviest by a significant margin.

weight is always your enemy. we ran my '05 RS and an '00 RS back to back at the TnT Friday before the Toledo Nat Tour. both my codriver and i had NO experience in the other's car but i was a full second quicker in his 300 lb lighter car. decent gearing in each (4.11 final in mine, 4.44 final in his) and same motor.

i'll agree that driver is the most important mod you can adjust, but the best bang for the buck is tires. good sticky street or race tires make a phenomenal difference. if you're pretty new at this and don't want to spend alot of $$$, get the rear swaybar replaced, add tires, and go get some seat time. ask members of your local club for some instruction and i'm sure many will oblige.
