Who has lowered their compression? Why did you do it? Did you coat the pistons? How much boost are you now running? How did it effect performance?

Give me a week and I will be able to answer some of those questions. I will have a 8.5:1 MY2000 RS-T.
I will only be able to answer off-boost response questions until I put the break-in miles on it.
I will also be pretty conservative on the boost levels until an ECU goes in. I can justofy blowing one engine to my wife as a learning experience, but two would not go over so well.
