Default Hurt: and the best version is...

the nin version...it dont compare to the johnny cash version...there are some songs that the remake blows away the original...but not in this case

To me, Trent's "pain" quickly turns to whining. Cash's pain is PAIN, man.

Cash for the win. It seems there's an element of pain in all country songs.

Musically, I can see your point. Both versions are fine, but I'm partial to Cash, because he's Cash.

Johnny's version is MUCH better. When Cash sang Hurt, there was so much more emotion in it. Reznor's version never moved me, and I never really cared for the song.

Strange timing... a coworker and I were talking about this exact subject just yesterday.

Yeah I go for the Cash version as well. Coming from a guy that was 1 foot in the grave is a bit more emotional then a bipolar 30 year old.

No, no, no, that' not what I meant. I meant that he's Cash, I prefer his vocals over Trent. You haven't heard my Trent rant in here yet? It goes like this: I love, love, loved Pretty Hate Machine when it came out, and still do, but Trent is like Morrissey and Robert Smith to me, great in smal doses, but quickly becomes tedious. Cash isn't like that to me. I always like him.

'xactly. Hence Johnny's hurt > Trent's. Johnny was not much longer for this world.
