Default First time at track...

Finally got the baja to the track last night. Ran ~13.8 at 100mph. Will try to upload timeslip after work.

almost 15000 miles...We installed a huge transmission cooler too, everything is running fine, haven't had any problems. I never really planned on modding the baja when I bought it but looking back now i'm glad I bought the auto cause the subaru 5 speed is garbage and I woulda had to have spent a lot of money just to build the tranny strong enough to hold the power.

Holy crap that IS FLYING.
I might head to the track this weekend to see if I can get my bajaT under 16.9

Do you feel the throttle is responsive enough? I mean its fly-by-wire, are you doing anything special for the launch? I've never dragraced, but have launched at the auto-x (not in the baja). Is there a good but safe way to launch the automatics without smokin the TC?

Yea the first thing you have to do is get a huge transmission cooler. I have one I mounted in front of the radiator that is almost as big as the STi Intercooler(slight exaggeration, but it is really big). That was a part of the first set of modifications I made to the car when I decided to start tuning it. As far as launching, push the brake down as far as you can with your left foot, put the car in neutral and rev up .After doing this if you push with your left foot on the brake again it will depress a little farther. Then with the brake fully depressed I pull the e-brake up. The rpms will climb to 3500 where the stock converter stops you. Right before it gets to that poin I release both brakes simultaneously. Tires chirp for a second and then your off. I've read that this method of launching the auto is safe for the tranny as long as you have the transmission cooler. Without one it may be a little more damaging.

I'll just mash the gas when the light goes yellow. Sounds like a line lock would be optimal. If I had my own Baja I'd definately like to get into bigger trans cooler, exhaust, ect ect.
