Default best subaru dealership-as a whole- in new england ?

so yeah, my GF's dad bought her a truck (used ovioulsy) from subaru of nashuain january or so, and the AC didnt' work, so she called up to see if she could get it brough t in. long story short, the service manager gave her a big hassle and was very rude with her.

so i was wondering all of your opinions, with a lil info to back it up. i am wonderin what you all think is the best subaru dealerhsip in NE, not only for it's sales, but for service and parts too.

Patrick - I buy all my parts from them, they seem friendly and can usually get the part I need their quickly. Recently I lost my receit to a coilpack i bought from them a few months back, and that same coilpack just failed on me. They said if I can find the date I purchased the coilpack from them they would refund me the money. And they did. They also gave me a few tips on removing the oil pan and such. Another time I ordered 3 oil filters and asked if they sold washer fluid (i didn't feel like stopping at a autozone). The guy handed me a gallon of washer fluid no charge.

Natick - I took my car to get a simple oil change and they didn't want to use the mobil 1 5w30 oil I supplied them with, I finally talked them into using the oil and they did the oil change for me. But I go here to pick up some parts if I need the parts THAT day because Natick seems to have everything in stock. I wouldn't go here unless I had to get a part that day but wouldn't use their service department again.

Tri-State - Only went here once to pick up some oil filters. Also very friendly, the guy I talked to over the counter was real cool and liked the modded wrx and such. Only small little thing that got me confused was when i picked up 3 oil filters they didn't give me any crush rings, but I went back and asked for them and he gladly gave them to me.

Overall: I would keep going to patrick since they have treated me great since day 1, once I have a problem with them and they can't resolve I will take my business to tri-state. I only would go to Natick to pick up parts you need that day.

I've only dealt with Patrick Subaru, and their sales department does not impress me. I ask them about stuff and they don't have answers for me, and hassle me about my age and ask if my mom or dad is buying it for me. As far as service, I take it to them for oil changes. I don't like the fact that they make me use a SOA oil filter, but whatever. I can't stand buying my Mobil1 there unless I want to pay 60 bucks, so I would suggest picking up 5 quarts before you get there. Generally, they're decent. People are nice though.

I have nothing but good things to say about Planet Subaru in Hanover. Ive bought 3 cars from them and they are always very good and never pushy. Jeff Fairbanks was my salesman and he was great. Its a good place to go if you dont like B.S. salesman.

patrick subaru is junk. one of my buddies bought a car from there and they said it had never been in an accident, took me about 2 seconds to see the whole thing had been resprayed and the doors popped back out/bondo'd. Anchor subaru is THE only dealership in new england as far as im concerned for purchase. Service dept. had some issues but i believe its since been resolved. Now if only they were an SPT dealership

Here are my experiences:

Sales:

Subaru of Nashua: (Thumbs down) - it was the classic car buying experience where the slicked back sale manager came out of the back room and was trying to tell me my trade in was worth nothing. At one point he had the "auction house" on speaker phone telling me how little they would give Subaru of Nashua for my car....

Subaru of Manchester: (Thumbs up): This is where I purchased my car. They were honest and straight forward. I negotiated the whole deal in less than 30 minutes. It was great.

Subaru of Milford: (Thumbs up): I haven't dealt with them directly but I have several friends that have purchase several cars from them and alls they can say is good stuff. I would have gone there first but they were closed when I bought my car and I found the deal I wanted on Sunday at Manchester Subaru :-) (The worst part is Manchester got my car from Milford..)

Service:

I truely believe this has more to do with the tech you get than anything. I know a tech at Milford Subaru who is very competent but one of my buddies had his clutch replaced at Milford and the car came back half assemblied...ie bolts were loose etc, etc. Tech are paid by the job...its just not a system that breads quality work in my opinion...granted they have to fix stuff thats brought back but what if they had to pay the consumer if it wasn't right, etc, etc. Most of the time you can't even get a free loaner....

Thanks,
cg

North End Subaru - They've been getting better in terms of the salespeople not writing you off as a "punk kid" and actually approach you now. When I went to look at Forester XT's the salesman was very informative and helpful. Plus he really pushed for me to drive the XT spiritedly whereas some dealers act like if you go over 20 you'll break it.

Anchor Subaru - Great selection, great salespeople. Very accomodating. I simply wasn't pleased with how the finance dept. dealt with my wife and I and our needing a co-signer. But I digress.

I second this. I purchased my '01 RS coupe from them back in late 2000 and then traded it in for my '04 XT last May. Very nice to deal with, great prices if you have done your research. No hassles or rude people.

As an aside, I paid $18,400 for the RS, drove it for 4 years and put 80k+ miles on it and was still given 8k for it as a trade. I had to push for this but not too hard. I like this dealership and will buy my next car from them.

Wakefield Subaru parts I disagree. 1/2 the time when I called he didn't know what I wanted because he is not an enthusiast. At Exeter if you say Brian, I need the part that looks like this and does that, he knows what you need because he knows what mod or work you're doing.

Sales - Do not go to the idiots in Wilmington (they keep changing ownership so I forget the name). I hate them. Their service sux too (although I haven't been there for either in 3 years).

how anyone could give the parts retards at wakefield a thumbs up is beyond me.

We actually used to add 1 day to longer job estimates, because the parts dept could always be counted on to order a completely wrong part. Alan (the shrivled a-hole in the hat) is seriously about 2 steps from being an actual retard.

If you go in there, try to only deal with the younger real tall guy. He is actually half decent.

I bounce between ira & exeter for parts/service. both are thumbs up.

I haven't been to Belknap in a few years - but they did good work and gave me a loaner - so a thumbs up for them too.

wakefield did have a part (crank pulley bolt) that the others didn't when my crank pulley fell off. they get a 1/2 thumbs up.

buying new - planet & ira. both were fine.

I bought my 05 WRX from Planet and was very pleased with the people and personal service. The price was also very good, and they took my 2002 RS with 82000 miles off of my hands and I broke even on it.

As for service, I have not had the WRX at a dealership, but always took the RS to Natick when I had any emergency service. They took care of me quickly and at a decent price, and gave me a free rental because the service was over $250.

As for parts, Natick is too expensive. I am in outside sales and travel all over New England, so I usually stop in Bennington or Springfield for parts. There is much less mark-up. Bennington Subaru sold me an O2 sensor for $80, where natick wanted over $100 for the part.

Just my .02.

I cant agree more, and this is also where I got my car from. The sales manager dealt with me directly over the phone, and when I arrived they had everything waiting for me. The car was detailed and had a full tank of gas, and was waiting for me out front when I got there. The atmosphere was very relaxed, and I felt no pressure or rush from anyone despite it being past closing time. As a 21 year old I figured they wouldnt really take me seriously, but they treated me with as much respect as I could have expected. Although I havent been back since, Kris at Manchester subaru would get my recomendation anyday.

NAtick Subaru - sucls big hairy ass. I bought my old RS there and thier sales blow. If you're looking for that sleezy experience, that's the place to go to. As for service department, I stopped by today to get some WRB touch up paint and they didn't have it I came in once to get my brakes serviced there and they wanted to machine my rotors for $150. I can buy Brembos for $100. I laughed at the guy and told him to put everything back together and I left. That place is a joke all together.

Village/Acton Subaru - bought my WRX there. I stole that car from those guys. The sales were honest and they did cut right to the bottom line. I made them sweat and they did give me an awesome deal. They even swapped my tires from my trade in onto the new WRX as I requested and I got the rear spoiler as part of the deal, no charge. The service deapartment is really where these guys shine. They are very rental car happy. I never het hassled there and since I know the parts department manager, I get all parts at cost I highly recommend this place.

Norwood Subaru - stopped by once. Nice showroom = you pay for it = you take it in the shorts when buying a car there = don't bother going. Touch up paint was $5 more then anywhere else. They seem to really stick it to you on the parts prices. Avoid if possible.

I bought my last 2 cars from Somerset Subaru. The sales people are nice and don't try to sell you stuff you don't need.

Their service dept. is good, the manager is always able to get my car in within a day or two and it is done on time.

Pilgrim Subaru on the otherhand, well... their sales dept. was good. I bought my first Subaru from them. The service dept. however, Thumbs down. I took my car in for it's 60,000 mi scheduled maintenance. The next day I'm driving home from work and all of a sudden my car starts making an awful clanging noise. I had to get it towed to a local shop. Turns out they didn't tighten the spark plugs enough and one came loose. They wouldn't even pay me back for having it towed. Never went back to them.

I havent had anything but bad experiences with colonial subaru in Danbury. Their prices on cars new and used are high, and the service is terrible.

The past 2 years I have been dealing with subaru of wilton (they just moved but I cant remeber where, I think to bridgeport). I got a great deal on my 04 wagon last year. And the guys in the service/parts department are amazing. They will do just about anything for you. When I had a problem they said bring it down right then and their and they made room for me and took at look at it. Hopes this helps you guys in my end of the state

Patrick Subaru denied me test drives on two seoerate occasions...... 1 when the WRX first came out because "they weren't letting people test drive them"

and the 2nd when I was looking for an '04 because "they wanted to see my trade first"

I get my parts from Wilmington Subaru and Tri-State and no dealer has EVER done work on my car.....and never will for that matter
