Yes if they are a professional mechanic or shop then yeah that is a fair price. There is a lot of labor involved it isn't ahrd just tedious and time consuming. Good luck hope your clutch job goes well.

i've got a local honest vietnamese mechanic who said he'd do it for 200, i just picked up an exedy oem clutch (for my 91 legacy wagon) for 160. 280 isnt a bad price, i believe garage tuning charges 250-300 for it, aerosim charges something similar...

That's not a bad price if they know Subarus, Marco. If not, you might want to hit up SS or Aerosim.

no my guy knows its awd, he said that's why its 200, he said it was fwd or rwd only, then it would be like 100 for labor...

Yes. But as stated before, only if they know what they're doing. SS is like $440 and Aerosim is about $360 (no parts, only labor).

well i'm waiting on kevin from garage tuning, because he may be doing a 2.5n/a swap into the legacy and he could do the clutch at the same time, but if he lags, then i might take it to my guy. it's an old car, i'm not too concerned about it, and yes he's changed 4wd subaru clutches often. there are quite a few old gl's running around pomona. i'll go with whoever wants my business; i understand that that steve and suby specialties are busy, but i need it done at a reasonable time frame...

Wirelessly posted (treo 600: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 95; PalmSource; Blazer 3.0) 16;160x160)

my gf brother is the one who might do it. he is ASE certified and he knows its awd. he changed my spark plugs before. he's done a lot of work on subarus and I know he did a good amount of work on a R34gtr.. he told me he can get 20percent of a clutch from subaru.
I guess it is a good deal.....thanks a lot fellas...

Price seemed a bit low for the work/hours involved, I tried to make a funny but it failed.

Wow.... I wonder if they charge even more if one day I ask them to swap my oem torque converter with a ProTorque high stall-speed one...
