security light with upgraded security system?

i have an 04 wrx and it has the upgraded security (came with the car and didn't pay for it) and this weekend, right under my tach, whenever the car is off a red security light blinks. i have had the car for over a year and a half and have not noticed this. so my question is, does anyone else have this light that blinks?

if you have the security upgraded the light should blink.

so yes its normal.

does anyone know how to tap into the blinkign security light to make a blinking light visible in a more visible area to deter thieves. I think I have seen audis where there is a little tiny light that flahses somewhere on the dashboard so that theives can see it easier and not mess with the car...anyone know how to tap into it?

It shouldn't blink if the car is off and you haven't armed the alarm yet. If it is, then you have the security system in valet mode. Do your blinkers flash when you arm the alarm? If not, then that is another sign of valet mode.

You can return it back to normal mode by having the car off, the alarm not armed, open your driver door, and hold the disarm on the remote for a few seconds and the blinking security light should go away. The red security light should blink only when the alarm is armed.
