Default Midnight Cruise Houston Midnight after Shop Day

As the mini meet shop day closes in, I think a Cruise Night/photo shoot would be cool that night, weather permitting on Saturday July 2nd after the shop day midnight to July 3rd @ 5:00am. We can start @ Star Bucks at 610 and Westhiemer rollingout @ 12:15ish am. I will provide energy drinks to anyone that shows up all night. We would then cruise to different points all over Houston so show up with a full tank of gas. I figure a 5 hour cruise would be cool.
Photo locations.
a refinery
Reliant
George R. Brown
Main Street Fountains if they are still working that late.
Some funky art sculpture back ground.
Galveston maybe
Space Center Houston in front of the Rockets, I will see what I can do on that. Down by the sail boats of Kemah and any other place we can think off and work in.
The idea is to get there, set up, roll cars in and out to photograph and then get to the next place quickly. 20 minutes at each place.

Some deserted street with all the stop lights lit up green in the back ground.
We need someone with a power supply or something we could plug a 200watt photo studio light into that stands along and easy to move.

Also make sure you have your license, registration and everything is current on your car and person as we are sure to grab some attention by HPD.
I will call HPD in advance to let them know what we are doing and let some of my friends spread the word that we are cool if they see us. This will not be a street racing event or insane driving night. This is more about doing something different, being safe, not getting shot, arrested or killed. We will not be going into any bad areas as I like breathing. It will be freeway to freeway between locations. Done right this could be something very cool.

Post up thoughts and ideas.

so it's at Midnight, right?

i'll try my best to do this, ...have two factors that may rule me out:
1 - a baby at home
2 - I may be a bit drunk from the keg(s)

We will have an armed HPD escort in a unmarked car travling with us and to move traffic when needed or keep idiots away. He will have lights and a gun. That should be enough, if your looking for street racing and hauling ass, this is not your cruise.

^^^Good or bad idea? ^^^

when your son wakes up at 8am latest, that 3 hours sleep isn't going to work...

Uh...the wife owns a Subaru too, remember?!?!?! If one of us is invited, we both are. And if one of us goes, we both go. At least, I would hope if it was some girly ****, Rob would be invited, whether or not he would actually want to go.

Sounds cool to me!! I'll have to bring the wagon cuz the STi is having butt-problems.....both end links are totally bent in half. The kid will be in back seat either dead asleep or screaming at all the "Soooooooobies".
I'll have to stop by Bubbles fer a wash in the afternoon!!!!
Hopefully, the family will wanna celebrate Dad's Day later in the day...

here's another idea, ...considering we will (well most of us) be pretty wiped out by spending most of the day outdoors at the shopday/UG shin-dig, drinking, hanging out and whatever... how about we make that a couple hours, and a few "key" stops rather than 300 miles and not missing Sunday's activities with family and such. eh?

....just my thoughts.

I'm not sure about that, but it's your gig. I would think at the time you have chosen, traffic would not be an issue. Otherwise, the idea sounds good.

More thinking thugs and cops seeing 15+ subies rolling down the freeway @ 3 or 4:00am and looking for trouble or tickets. It would be safer and more legit or whatever time.

So start at 9:00pm and go from there until 1:00am? I'm cool either way, if it means you will bring the Sti out and it adds more people, I'm cool with that.
It does lose some of the coolness factor. HotrodGuru, I'm not sure if he even waked up until 11:00pm. I can run all night.

Duh!!! I could've told you that.

And I think if the non-turbo members of the household will pull an all night babysitting gig, we could be in!

I'll try to go I might have a battery backup I can use....it's the one i'm selling so I prefer not to open it. Someone check my first post in the for sale thread.

Is there anyone that lives near myerland or I guess anywhere where i can hitch a ride, I prefer not to break the subie line with my car and I'm not a fantastic night driver.

My camera is the suck at night, but I still will need a tripod. There are so many and so many cheap ones too. Anyone got any recommendations?

Do I have this right,
You have a battery back-up we can't use.
You need a ride.
Your blind at night.
Your camera sucks
You don't have a Subie.
You need a tripod to use with the suck camera.

yeah you got it pretty much.

I can drive if you want. I just don't like driving for 5 hours stright at night in won't fit in with.

My camera won't suck as much if I get a tripod.

It's an Olympus E-10. and I just got it. If i get a tripod it'll take care of the problem.

I'll gladly drive to wherever one of you guys are and whenever you go home I can just take my car back. Not asking for a taxi service from my house to wherever and back.
If it is too much trouble I'll drive my car and stay in the back, but was hoping to take pictures while in the car.

Sorry to disapoint
