Default How to read CEL codes on a 96 Outback?

hi,
i'm posting for my friend, he has a 96 outback w/ a CEL, how do you check the codes? and does someone have a list of the codes? thanks

The codes can only be read by plugging a scanner into the diagnostic port under the driver side dash. If you're in any state other than CA, Autozone does this for free, also you can ask for help in your local forum. Someone nearby probably has a scanner.
