Default UTEC Check Engine Light

I have a question for you guys.... I will be buying a STI soon hopefully and down the road I will want a UTEC. Will the UTEC get rid of any CEL's from putting on a catless turbo back? I'm just worried about Maryland emissions. They just plug into your OBD11 port now and scan for CEL's. Thanks..

yes and no. You can turn off the cel on the dash, but the cruise light will flash and will be none functional.

The UTEC won't help you pass emissions. The UTEC's only OBD-II related function is to turn off the light itself on the dash. The code is still there and will be read by the VEIP. As wrex said, it will also still cause the Cruise light to flash if you end up throwing the code.

However, you can just use the mechanical CEL fix (basically a small extension for the rear O2 sensor) and you shouldn't have any issues.

ALL the normally associated CEL's are VERY easily to deal with....AND pass an OBDII test.....the UTEC won't matter for the test, and isn't curative for the CEL(s).

yep just get the Mechanical fix and you're golden. You can search on here for the DIY mod or if you don't have a workbench and vise to drill and do the DIY once you can get the Helix mechanical fix from Gruppe-S for like $13. I bought the Helix one when I was getting some other parts from there and it's very nice, screwed right into my TurboXS downpipe.
