Hey guys, I have an 03RS and was wondering if anyone had info on the best exhaust to use on the n/a 2.5? I currently have an AEM Long Ram intake not that it matters. I still would like the low growl over loudness, meaneng, i dont want it to sound like a Honda.
Anyone have an insight?

Just based on the general design of subaru engines (boxer) you wouldn't really be able to make the car sound like a honda. I really like my 2.25" Borla SS, but it's not loud at all. If you're looking for a good rumble, go with a Stromung, or TXS RFL.

i like my apexi-n1 ($470 on ebay?) - the tip kicks out to the left and is barrell type, I have a borla header (not equal length) and they sound awesome together. I have the same AEM intake.. but like doster said... nothin u put on a subaru is going to sound like a honda.

My previous setup was Injen Intake > Borla Headers > Stromung High Flow Cat > Resonated midpipe > Apexi N1. This setup produced decent power though I feel a loss a bit on the low end.
I recently traded with ej25power, and with the same setup and stock cats, his car was not nearly as loud and sounded pretty good from the initial drive. My current setup now includes a deresonated modified wrx midpipe and a 05 wrx axleback. Sound is more high pitched, not loud at all, but definately noticable and head turning. My low end has a bit more punch and im noticing a slightly harder pull from 4k to redline, which is unusual granted it is the stock wrx exhaust, but this is just my experience. |

another apexi n1 fan here. had it with the borla headers, and man they sound awesome. i had lots more other exhaust before this one too. i had a 5zigen fireball (not that great....although it did make loud pops! scared the crap out of people), stromung dual tip (its cool...but doesn't sound as mean as the n1), scoobysport (sounded like the stromung to me). out of all of my exhausts, i loved the n1 the best. yea...it sure stands out more then the other exhausts, but the sound..omg i love it. i don't have it anymore, but if i were to get another exhaust, it would be the n1. if you are getting an exhaust, get the headers too. headers help alot.
