it all depends on the dyno, atpmosphere, what octane fuel (and even where and when it was purcahsed), etc. There is no set number figure.

Dyno measures the wheels spinning with some variable resistance to calulate the amount of torque an engine + drivetrain produces. Then it converts it into horsepower.

I heard something about the SAE coming out with a standard for horsepower. reading in motortrend that the Z06 was the first car to use the new standard and that is how the power went from 500 to 505 with no tuning. However that is still bhp, not whp.

I always thought it was around 127 at the wheels. 165 minus 30%. I remember seeing that in a thread here. I hope it's wrong because that seems kinda low.

It all depends on the dyno. The ones around here read an RS around 105-110 whp I believe (mustang and one other). Some read even lower. I have hear of a dyno saying an RS making 97 whp
Most either read around 110 +/- whp or 125+/- it just depends. That is why when people test components, they do a couple of base runs stock. Then they have something to compare it to and can say it made "_ _ more whp than when it was stock." |
