Post Poll: Who has what springs on AGX's?

5Zigen on AGX's here.

I'm curious about the ride quality of other springs. I know how the Eibachs's are, but nothing other then those and my setup. Even if you're a duplicate, please do post again.

I have Eibachs...sitting on my front room floor waiting for the AGX's that Kevin has...

I think they'll be the best all around spring for my purposes.

What settings are a good starting point for the AGX's???

I've got AGX/Eibachs, if you remember the install in September (or was it October). I had them on 2/3 while the weather was nice, but turned them to 1/1 since my snow tires are so soft. When I get new tires in the spring I'll probably try 2/4 or something like that.

Hey myk, what did you decide abou the install? Duxler quoted three hours, which will come out to under $200....

I washed these things off for ya and man, it was NASTY. But the bathtub (yes, bathtub) cleaned right up.

If you have it done there, I'll just drop 'em off and tell Duxler to take 'em apart, scheduled for the day you plan to have it done, unless you want me to do it beforehand.

Stock springs on my AGXs. Ride quality is nothing to write home about even on the softest setting.

I've got the KYB/Eibach combo, ride is pretty rough with the 1/2 setting with 225/45/16 Kuhmo tires, not nearly as bad as the 3/6 setting was though, it bounces too much on the highway and roads at that setting, and I can still take a corner damn fast at 1/2, can't wait to turn em up to 4/8 on the track though.

Colin L, the ride will indeed be rather unpleasant with the stock springs, take it from a guy who ran the GT wagon springs on the AGXs for a bit. It's stiff and uncomfortable, because the car is undersprung (or overshocked, dependent upon if your glass is half full or empty).

I wound up having to dial mine down to 1f/2r to compensate for the inadequate springs.

Aphex, yours is an odd one. When I had the Eibach/AGX combo on, the car was too danged low (Legacy wagon), but it was quite compliant, and handled like a fiend on the recommended 2f/4r settings.

It seems like the 1/2 is too little damping for the Eibachs, though. The AGXs tend to like a higher setting once they're broken in, with closer numbers, like 2/4 or 3/5. I'd think that 3/6 would buck some.

Interesting stuff, these damping settings. Sometimes, they aren't even logical, like the ride of the Teins smoothing out when the damping is turned up. I'm up to 11f/13r, and they feel great!

I thought the teins were on their way out?

Anyway, no doubt the AGX is overdamped for the stock springs. The real problem though is that the AGX is horribly unsophisticated and the initial rebound is way too high. That is why they ride poorly.

Of course on 1/2 the ride is exactly like stock (IMO), and the stock struts were also made by KYB. Hmm!

No, I have stock 99RS rims, but they were filthy and I wanted them really clean and waxed for this year. So I did it while I have them off the car for the winter. Yeah I know evrybodys gonna laugh at me!

Man, Colin. I dug the AGXs with the Eibachs. And I didn't realize the stockers were made by KYB. That could be one reason why that's become the strut of choice for those craving adjustability. Funky! The things you find out...

Yes, theTeins are on the way out. Just getting the replacements squared away.
