All sorts of things are starting to go wrong. I only have 25,000 miles and the only mod is an STI cat back. The A/C went out a trip to Houston. All the pipes iced up, once it thawed out it now cycles between cold air and outside air. Also it's starting to grind going into 4th about 30% of the time. The worst thing is I have had a creaking /groan in my suspension which I have taken into Subaru of Austin 6 times and they can't fix it. I'm going to see the district manager on Monday to "discuss" the suspension.
If it's having this many problems with only 25k on it, what’s it going to be like with 60k+ ??? They have also had to replace the clutch cylinder, fixed the accelerator pedal that was flapping around when you pressed on it, the plastic under the car also fell off, and finally the bezel on the inside of the car is starting to change color. Is this normal? Is everyone else having these annoying problems? Does the suspension fall under the lemon law?

The a/c thing ain't just your car. When it freezes up on my car (usually in high humidity, long trips), it just blows white steam (?) through the cabin and cycles to non-conditioned air for a little bit.
Change your transmission oil. That helped with my 4th gear grind (happened when shifting at redline into 4th for me) Suspension groans and clunks are my specialty as well. I seriously doubt it's my sway bar anymore, and probably a creaky strut, but it still works. I'm at 38,610 as of this morning, and mine's no lemon. |

78k, no ac issues for me except i smoked the belt and it woudl squeal like a stuck pig. replaced the belt(broke the tensioner at the time so I had to rig it) and it has worked fine since then.
get the new subaru tranny fluid, my car would grind into 4th at anything above 2K, it doesn't grind anymore and works like a champ. no suspension issues for me though, but I have a stiffer bar in the back and STI springs all around. |

Anyone have the little blue caps for the a/c lines? Dealership or body shop lost mine.

I got one from a 1990 Nissan Cefiro. But I doubt it will work for your application. |

Yeah I've gotten the AC blowing white frost sometimes too. My old car (a pontiac) did the same thing, so I assume this is normal. Just think of it as being the same as opening your freezer's door...lol
I have a suspension clunk too, but I am still investigating what it is. Don't think mine's a lemon though. For the bezel changing color, try either adding window tint, using a sunshade, or parking in the shade when you can. Sun changes plastic's colors. And as we all know, subaru isn't known for their wonderful plastics! ![]() |

My AC doesn't do the freezing up thing if I keep it on Recirc instead of fresh air from teh outside. I guess once the air in the cabin gets dehumidified its fine, since your not constantly bringing in new moisture from outside.

My A/C is falt out broke. A/C line has a nice puncture from my old APS top mount. Going to get that fixed for $350.00. Hopefully that will be then end to my a/c woes.
Also have a broken stud on two seperate wheels and some untrimmed plastic underneath that pops out and scrapes on the ground. Other then that, I'm at 86K and doing great! -john- |

The a/c freezing up is not just a Texas heat thing. When I had my wrx, I went thru this issue in Florida and here. It ended up being the bracket that holds the temperature sensor onto the evaporator is wrong. It sits too far out and doesn't work properly. Subaru knows about this issue and has a memo about it in the computers. That sensor is suppose to turn off the compressor when it senses the coil beginning to freeze up and turn the compressor back on when it's thawled out. I hope that helps. All this was covered under warranty from SOA.

Well known issue with the A/C. Mine froze up last summer on a road trip to austin. The dealership fixed it under warranty.
Subaru has a TSB on this. Check this thread: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...postid=4179167 |
