Default Muffler Question

How much performance damage/gain can just a muffler do? If it's too resrictive, I can understand the loss in power. But having 2.25" exhaust all the way through until you hit a 2.5" muffler, can that difference be enough to actually be measured? Or to make a difference?

no. a catback barely gives you any power, nevermind a muffler.

I'm having basically the same debate. I'm going with a 3" axleback section to a 2.25 inch pipe to the cats. But with a 2.5 muffler, no. I doubt you'd seen any change in performance whatsoever. That'd work fine

The highest restriction is gonna be the lowest diameter pipe, so when you have a 2.25 inch all the way to the axle back there isnt really a point in going from 2.25 into a 3.

Especially when 2.25 is big enough anyways. Just try to find a muffler that doesn't have tons of baffles in it.
