Smile 2.5RS Turbo Torture Test

Just got back from beating on my poor Impreza all day at Pocono. 93 degrees, 100+ on the track, over 4 hours on the track between my wife and I. We switched off every half hour in alternating run groups. Oil temps hit 225, but the motor ran flawlessly and pulled hard all day. EGTs were 1350-1400 at 110 MPH on the banking.

I used 100 octane unleaded, so I wasn't too worried about detonation, but it was an impressive performance none the less.

Wish I could say the same for the tires and brakes.

Hey John, kind of OT, but were you running up in Maine for the Rally in an ALL-TRAC Celica Turbo (maybe Rallispecs old car-?)?

I saw the car a few times on course, and really wanted to try and catch up with, since I am a local North East guy orginally from NJ (spent some time with the guys at Rallispec also).

Anywho, if it was you, you were looking good.

Also, glad to hear you had a good time at Pocono. I hear it is a very fun track to drive on.

Ps- for Maine Rally pics, check out www.clutchdrop.com

Yeah that's me. Definitely not Rallispec's old car, though. Check out www.rallystuff.com for more info.

Cool! Damn, wish I could have met up with you guys, you were going too fast.

You didn't see me waving my hands at you while running down the road in chase?

Maybe next time.

Sorry about the Rallispec asssumption, I just knew they were trying to sell there car, and I don't recall every seeing a real All-Trac besides theirs, so I just thought..

WOW! Sounds like someone is having success turbocharging a MY00+ RS! What's your setup? Are you running a TEC2 system?

LaterZ!

No TEC-II. Just the basic proven MY00 low-boost package: high flow fuel pump and Bell RRFPR provide enough fuel for 5-6psi. The aggressive MY00 timing is offset by cool air temps (fender air intake and Rallispec intercooler) and high enough octane (94 on the street runs fine, but I used unleaded race fuel for a little added safety on the track).

Default Ratiator

There is another thread about upgrading the radiator this post seems to show that the stock ratiator is fine for abuse even at hight temps. This assuming your using the stock one just curious.

Well, I assume so. I don't have a water temp gauge other than the always-in-the-middle factory one. I didn't boil over anyway.

Yes, the zener diode.

I've got a Liberty turbo setup (from the headers on back) with a-w IC, 190 lph pump, Vortech 4:1 FMU, at 5lbs (did have an MBC set at 7, but the clatter from a run in this heat scared me so I took it off for now.)
