Default Disappointed with FIS in Dallas.

Well Steve seems like a great guy but I've spent the last 2 weeks trying to get a price for a FIS gearset install. Countless phone calls and an email and still nothing. Getting tired of calling him on a daily basis to figure out if I need to ship my tranny up to Dallas or perhaps even take it up there myself. Don't know, said he's waiting on his tranny guy to give him the quote. Price should be a bit discounted seeing that I have the tranny pulled already.

Kenny should be at the shop day as well, ...but not for a tranny rebuild/install.

No. Just call Gillman north and ask to speak to Chris first (in service). Tell him your story, that many have refered you to (Kenny). He will ask Kenny about the labor and pricing. Big Turkey and Orlando had work done there. Feel free to tell him John sent you. I too tired of no return calls/ answers about a pro - tuner tune. Oh well.

I've had no tranny problems yet
My nickname is grandma for a reason.

granny shiftin'....

Honestly you guys should all opt for the STi 6 speed. They are pretty easy to get ahold of in Japan and pretty cheap from East Coast Scooby, who is a really great guy to deal with.

DM NonDCCD 6 speed transmission - #: jdm_6spd_nondccd - 4,150.00

Dude that's like more than double the cost of what I'm looking at and possibly over 3-4 times the cost if you include other needed items. I'd love to do it M, but I'm a poor man.

youll be an even poorer man when you consider that if you are making enough power to break one 5spd, you will probably have bad luck with the other 5 spds.

Is this for real? I would show up just to buy the man a beer. Chris and Kenny at Gillman North are the reason I own a STI...

tired of dealing with FIS as well. tried to get ahold of those guys by phone. left vmm left vmm. finally talked to steve on Monday about some dyno time today. i was told "call me thursday and i will let you know if i have time on friday, i am putting in some turbo...blah blah."

why dont you just say, Yes i can or no i cant. its not like its a pro bono tune job or anything. that is like one of your friends telling you that they cant do something this friday with you cuz they "might have something going on" its like, "well, i am asking you right now before you make other plans so why dont we just hang out?" even if the day was booked with an install, which is a higher hourly rate? Labor or a tune?

just ranting. I honestly dont know what it takes to run an engine shop so i will just shut up.

still kinda pissed though. would be nice if there were two Horses in this town to ride as far as engine tuning goes though. Little competition might do a body good...

fat cheeto eating ninja edit:
in all honesty, FIS has done me right in the past. just lately its been tense.
