Default Why I'm not buying a new subaru in Ottawa

Am I the only one getting the bad salesperson?
It's seems to me they don't want to make a sale.
They don't want to drop from the MSRP.
And they always tried to bend the truth to their advantage.

I don't recommend the 3 dealer in the Ottawa region: Ogilvie, westboro,Gatineau.

I was happy to take my bussiness somewhere else!

Default What did you buy?

Pat,

I'm not surprised by Otto's and Ogilvie but I'm surprised by Gatineau.

Did you buy a 02 WRX? and where did you buy?

Robin

Robin,

Concerning Gatineau, We had an agreement over the phone. Then when I got there they were given me 1500 less for my trade in. They changed their mind, basically telling me they weren't making any money with that deal...
I was surprised and left.

I'm now buying my02 Blue WRX at Subaru Ste-Agathe.
(It's basically the same deal that Gatineau changed their mind over).

Default Gatineau??

Hi,
who did you deal with at Gatineau Subaru?? I never had a single problem there buying my REX!! PM me your story and I'll mention it tomorrow, I'm going for a checkup.

I agree with Westboro and Ogilvie... what a joke! Ogilvie should concentrate on Bimmers and forget Subaru...

I'll have to defend Ogilvie here!

I never had a problem when I bought my RS - I dealt with Tom McCullugh (sp?) who didn't BS me or call me back to check up on me and see if I REALLY wanted the car. Granted, I would only deal with Tom or with the sales manager (John?) at Olgivie, no one else.

I've continued my relationship with Ogilvie (parts & sales anyway) and dealings have always been pleasant!

You really shouldn't be surprised that a dealership won't drop its price on the REX - THEY DON'T NEED TO! They are very well aware that if you don't buy it at that price, someone else will...

My .02

Kevin.

I bought my RS from Tom (at Ogilvie).... he didn't BS me either... I recommend him and he know his Subarus... but now with the popularity of Subaru, they're not give any discounts (from what I hear) on the new cars...... WRX (MSRP all the way) or even Outbacks.....

The smaller dealers don't receive the same volumes of people that the bigger dealers have and hence they are more flexible and willing to negociate.....

Remember, in 1999 Subaru only sold over 13000 cars in Canada... in 1998, they sold over 4300 cars..... This is still a small company.... There are more Cavaliers/Sunfires sold every year than the complete Subaru line-up.

Shop around and see what you can get..... and if it means you need to go to Deep River or North Bay to save some money, I would do it.......

I purchased my Subarus (3 out of 4 of them to date) from Ogilvie. I don't remember who I dealt with when I got my '87 DL wagon. I dealt with Tom when buying my '99 TS and '01 Forester. I would buy another Subaru from him. He didn't try to BS or anything.
