Default Which o2 sensor is the front, and which is the rear?

I know, it sounds like a stupid question, but I just mailed a gentleman an o2 sensor I sold him, and now I'm wondering if I sent the right one.

I had 2 off my 98 RS.. one long one wrapped in white sheilding, and with a square plug.

The other was black (sheilding), with a shorter cord and a triangle plug.

So... which one was the rear?

Jamie,

Hi.

I have a question I couldn't find the answer to on the internetz.. I have a 2000 Outback Sport with 2.2. And I am looking for a front O2 sensor as well. The ones I can find have three wires (triangle connector) and says it's for up to 1999. Then I look at the 2001 RS ones, and they are with 4 wires (square). Would the 1999 ones fit my 2000 OBS? I don't know if my engine is older DOHC or the newer SOHC. Subaru changed the design in 2000 at some point, IIRC.

For the life of me, I cannot find the part number for the one I need. Can you help me? Maybe even pm me a price for the front O2 sensor, too??

Thanks.

/hijack.

Longer one is the rear sensor. Also if it has a small white plug.
