Default Autox Classifation Question

Ok guys here it goes. I have been put in so many different classes at the autocrosses that I have no idea where I belong anymore. At one point I was running in the same class as the Noble @ Homestead!!. My 02 wagon has the following toys:
Stock K&N filter
Tein springs
HKS up & down pipe
Axle back muffler from a 04 STi
Rear sway bar
Perrin Short Shifter
Oh, and a nice "pine tree" air freshener!!!
If anyone knows where I belong, please let me know.
Last time I ran in ESP but I was told by some people that I should have been in some other class.

If there's a cat in the downpipe, it's STX.

Looks like the pine air freshner puts you in a Prepared or Modified class. W/o it would be like Fred said.

No cat in the downpipe.
I guess I need to take out the freshner before the next auto-x.

No cats = SM or ESP.

Buy some race tires (play in ESP or SM) or catted DP (go to STX)

Thanks Tom.
Like I said before I did run in ESP last time, but I did see that everyone else in WRXs were in SM or STX.

Well if you go SM you can get ECUtekked or run a boost controller for some extra power.

If you do throw a cat on and go to STX, TopSpeed in Atlanta has some kick ass ECUtek STX maps (running stock boost) that have netted close to 30whp/wtq on the last few STX cars tuned there.

I think I'm going to stay in ESP since I really don't want to spend more money for a while. Besides TopSpeed is kind of a long haul for me (Miami).
Thanks,
Mauro

ESP is where you should run like they said. Now you can play with Drew and Andrei in their STi's.

OK, my turn.....

I have the following,

H&R springs
Progress rear swaybar
Regular street tires
UTEC
TBE w/ no cats
B&M SS
MBC

I have never auto-X'd before and am interested in what I would be in.

SM or Street Modified because of the boost controller.

Yep, SM for boost control.

...and for future reference, dropmech, it helps to list your car as well...

I run AS with my STi. I just have the larger front swaybar, cat-back and a 2nd set of wheels with r-comps. That is about all I can do in my class besides some custom shocks, but I don't have the budget for those.

I would stay in ESP with your mods. Without R-comps SM is going to be very hard at ER (Jose - Pacobeagle as r-comps and the S4 on Hoosiers are 2 examples). Most people in ESP are still on street tires down here.

The official rules are now listed in PDF form on the SCCA's website. That link is old and hasn't been updated, nor is it official.

-Biggly

edit: Neither the PSRS nor the ALK are significant in time gains and one would be a lot better off with being in a more appropriate class than with what is essentially an offset bushing.
