Default Luke@Tire-rack Discount?

Hey Luke do we get a discount on tires? I just bought 4 Kumho V700s 205-55-14s for my XT6, ordered monday, shipped tues, had my shop put them on today.

If we get a discount could you contact me about it, cause I'd like to get it. Also I noticed that 2 of my tires are not turning in the proper direction according to the sidewall. Was I supposed to order different ones for each side? Thanks in advance.

No we don't and the shop mounted 2 of them wrong on the wheels... get them to remove them and reinstall them on the rims .

How did they mount them incorrectly?

If they swap 2 of them, then they'll still be wrong. The only way they could be mounted so that the "rotation" arrow goes the correct way, would be to get 2 new tires. They are mounted with the correct side facing out, just 2 of them have the rotational arrow going the wrong way.

well... lets say its the front tires, the right side arrow is pointing to the rear, if you take off that wheel and mount it on the left side it will be facing forward, thus the correct direction.

It the left side tire has the arrow pointing to the rear for rotation and you swap it to the right side, it will now also be pointing forward.

Now if two tires on one side are facing the wrong direction and they can't be mounted differently (inside different than outside) then your screwed

I don't know the tread pattern on the V700, but likely there are arrows on both sides of the tire, thus meaning the tire can be dismounted flipped and then will be facing the correct way.

Make sense at all??? Oh and BTW we don't get any discount from tirerack for being i-clubbers. I've asked already.

Good luck with your rotation issues.

Just for everyones information we Don't get a discount with TireRack.

I asked the same question when I ordered my Sumitomos.

Luke said - Our goal is to provide good prices and service for all of our customer rather than gives special privledges to a car club.

Yes, it's the 2 left tires that are incorrectly facing rotation.

They are both mounted with the correct side facing outward "Mount this side outward" but the arrows go to the right where it says "Rotation", when they should be facing to the left.

I guess I'll just call up Tire Rack and ask them what the deal is.

What is the point in having a sponser if they don't give you discounts? Just seems kinda pointless IMHO. I'm more worried about my rotational issue than a discount though, cause I'm racing this Sunday and if they are incorrect, I'm really really screwed!

Hm... looking at the picture on Kumhousa.com, the V700 has seem like asymmetrical AND directional, which means you have to specify left and right tires. Tirerack's site is down so I can check there. I'm surprised, because that's a big hassle for people in competition, to have to store two different tires. Yikes.

Not to mention Tire-rack DIDN"T SPECIFY that there were left and right ones. I am gonna be super pissed cause I have aproximately zero time in my work schedule to send any tires back to them.

guys, relax.

the victoracer v700 has been made in only 1-sided moldings for some time. (over a year, at least) kumho changed the recipe and didn't bother to change the molds, so they are all stamped for one side.

*ignore that stamp!*

you want to initially run them with the widest shoulder out, no matter which direction that might be rotating. you can mount & swap them to any position in this fashion.

some time after the "tread" disappears (exact timing depends on your tire wear patterns) you should have them re-mounted inside out and run them that way to even them out. a few well-prepared cars could wear the tire evenly and make this unnecessary... the vast majority will not.

Just got off the phone with luke.

I vaguely remember reading exactly what Colin just posted, but couldn't re-find it. Luke verified that they did not have a rotational side v. non rotational side.

You guys must hammer poor luke, cause he was all ready to read me a quote from some press release. I was like "you don't have to recite it to me, just let me know if it's ok "

All is good
