Default Header-back Dual Exhaust?

Kinda like a Harley (one pipe per cylinder bank)
Can it be done? any benefit/downside?

I was just changing the oil the other day and just looked at how simple it would be ( If you can fab. your own headers )

I guess 2 possible downsides would be clearance under the car and noise.

It would be kinda neat though. I guess it would do no good on a Rex, but on our non-turbo cars it could work, right?

Lemme know.

Hey with any money anything will work, but (and correct me if I'm wrong) ull lose so much backpressure it'll be silly. Remember, we drive 4 cylinders, not massive air pumping v8s, so we don't really need dual exhausts.
Get urself a good set of EL headers, that's the better bet.

If you got smaller size pipes you could have as much backpressure as you want.

But...
It would weight too much.
I doubt there’s room.
High labor and material cost.
It wouldn't increase power unless you paired the "y pipes" with opposing cylinders.

But hey it might sound cool, and it would be different.

I say just get a TWE header and call it a day.

I'm WWAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy too lazy to try it, but it would be different.

I'm planning on COBB EL or TWE EL's. Money, money,money... Money.

Edit: I don't have any, not bragging

I would guess it would sound like 2 motor cycles sitting right next to each other. You'd lose the boxer sound, would probably end up sounding like 1/2 a V8 (NO REALLY!!)

lol

actually since the firing order is 1-2,3-4 it would sound just like it does now only more pronounced.

you'd have two alternating cylinder banks that fire (in relation to the car)"driver-rear, driver front! passenger-rear, passenger front!" so DRIVER DRIVER, PASSENGER PASSENGER. it would very much sound like a boxer.

it would be like two motor cycles right next to eachother, but a v8 has 2 cylinders firing per rotation cycle where as we have 1.

It would probably sound great, putting a balancer tube somewhere close to the front would help it sound not so seperated, but finding room for two mufflers would suck. I was going to get it done at a local muffler shop, but couldn't find a place for the right muffler. Maybe you could just use glasspacks with a straight tip at the end, but then again that usually sounds good on turbo cars only.
