Default What do non-2.5GT BDs have instead of side skirts?

My side skirts have just about had it on the ol' '97 2.5GT - they're faded a bit, and probably 1/2 the clips on the back are broken. They've gotten warped a bit since the clips aren't holding them in place properly, so the driver side one in particular I occasionally catch with my heel when I get out of the car, which of course doesn't make the warping any better.

If I pull the side skirts off completely, I'll be left with a bunch of holes along the rocker panel where the pop-in white clip thingies go to hold the 2.5GT skirts on. Do the non-2.5GTs have different rocker panels, or are there inserts of some sort to plug those holes?

Thanks,
Pat Olsen

Well when I compare a 98 GT to a 97 L. On the L the holes that the white clips go into are not there. So If you wanted to put the side skirts on a L you would have to drill the holes. So it would look like you would have to have the holes filled if you removed your side skirts.

Just pull the rocker coversd off and buy new clip pins.

Oh, BTW, I am looking to score a set of TE-37's, 15 x 7 for autoX use.

How much of a difference in gearing do you find? I believe the ones I am getting are 225/50-15 which are the same size as yours. I am hoping to avoid 1st gear usage in autoX.

Bummer.

The problem is that a number of the slots on the rocker skirts that the clip pins slide into have gotten torn/cracked. So new clip pins wouldn't really help the situation, if I want to fix it I would need to get new skirts, which kinda sucks.

Honestly, 225/50-15 is the only size I've ever run for auto-x and open track, so it's tough to say how much of a gearing advantage there is. Obviously there is one, the numbers don't lie. I very, very rarely have to use 1st gear, but I think that's a matter of course design more than the car specs. Other than high-revvers like S2000s or ITRs, I think my gear selection is typical of just about everyone else out there - mostly 2nd gear, 1st on really slow corners, occasional burst of 3rd on a really fast section.
