Default Stromung versions

I dont know if some of you guys remember, but last week I was having some trouble putting a stromung axleback(SS, single tip) on my RS, bought from a fellow member. The thing just did not fit, plain and simple. The flange met up and so did the middle exhaust hanger but besides that the muffler was too long and the other 2 hangers did not fit. To make a long story short I had meineke custom fit it for me by making me a new pipe for the muffler and moving a couple hanger mounts. All is good now. My question is why did this stromung not fit in the first place? boxer4racing lists the single tip version to fit all imprezas, legacy 95-'03 and forester 98-03. The axleback I purchased came off a 97 legacy. Did stromung ever have different versions of their axlebacks for different models? Thanx

aaahhh, the situation is now fully explained. www.boxer4racing.com lists all of the models together because they are the same PRICE, not the same PART. The reason your Stromung didn't fit is because it was made for a LEGACY, not an IMPREZA. Different part number, different length, different hangers.

I was was thinking/hoping that the same thing was true and that an 2000 legacy piece would fit on my 98, but I called boxer4racing and got the real scoop.

Lesson learned for you=Assuming things about car parts is bad and usually leads to trouble.

You are absolutely right, but the previous owner did say it would fit an impreza as well as a legacy. At least this got cleared up. Thanx

Just curious at how the stromung sounds. Is it very loud? Does it have a deep rumble to it?

I just removed my Apexi N1 exhaust due to the fact that the whole back of the muffler rusted out and it was bouncing around on the pipe. Currently my stock unit is back on with my Borla header. So i will looking for a new catback near the end of the year when i can get some extra money together. I originally wanted a stromung before i bought the apexi. I was looking at there new XA i think it was called on boxer4racing yesterday. I will probably go with one of the stromung exhausts or the one i saw on xceleration.com. I dont want a super loud cop magnet but i do want a deep rumble to let people know im not a honda.

The stromung is louder than I thought it would be but still sounds nice and deep. Im putting Borlas on soon so that will make things alot more rumbly
