Default need immediate response, involves front o2 sensor

ok my o2 sensor went bad and im replacing it right now. i took out the front and one looked at the replacement sensor. its not the same one. the new one has a triangluar clip and the old one has a square. did the send me the wrong part? or what? the guy said this is a pre-cat o2 sensor for the 99 impreza 2.2 engine. i also noticed there is one sensor right after the second cat. and it looks more like the one i bought.

I believe that the two sensors are not interchangable. Check to see if it fits the back. Did you get a new OE sensor or a generic sensor?
